Today, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham has turned 17. Yes, we are old! Karan Johar's this multi-starrer big budget movie is our biggest guilty pleasure. Every time it is aired on TV we watch it; even if we know exactly what's going to happen every minute. K3G has stopped being a film long back. Right now, it is everything we associate our growing up years with. We love to have Poo's swag, Kajol's loud enthusiasm, the dream of a rich life like the ones Raichands lead and a lot of Aaaaaa (the background score). So we thought why not note down 17 things that make us go back to this movie despite being completely unrelatable. Who loses so much weight and turns into Hrithik Roshan? Highly improbable you see! Even with its unrealistic plot points, we love K3G and here are 17 reasons why!
Parvati bani Poo
K3G is all about loving Poo. Kareena Kapoor as Pooja, Kajol's flamboyant younger sister, is something we all wanted to grow up to be. The swag, the outfits and those moves... How many times have we said 'Who are you?' Halleluiah!
Chandu Ki chacha
Here comes the tongue twister. Chandu Ki Chacha ne chandu ki chachi ko chandni chowk mei chandni ke chamch se chatn i chatayi! That's what we learnt from K3G. That also helped Kareena recognise Hrithik, you see.
Pooja ki thali
Jaya Bachchan can figure out when Shah Rukh Khan is approaching home and so, she is always ready with her pooja ki thali. A heightened sense of motherhood! We so wanted our moms to do the same when we go home after many months but all we get is, "Why have you lost so much weight?" Geez
Kareena Kapoor's mismatched shoes
Have you ever tried to get out of an embarrassing situation playing it cool? We tried and were left more embarrassed. But not Kareena! When Hrithik laughs at her mismatched shoes, she gets away by saying this is the trend. So cool!
Dialogues
From 'Who are you?' to 'Keh diya bas keh diya', there's nothing that we don't remember from the film. We even know when Shah Rukh Khan heard the words, "Technical problem, Mr. Raichand!"
Kabhi with an E
Don't call yourself a K3G fan if you can't spell the name right. We take deep offence to anyone who doesn't know the second Kabhi has an E.
Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol
It's a shame that we don't get to watch Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol all the time in films. Their romance on screen is timeless. Remember 'Chubh to nahi raha?' If you don't stop calling yourself a K3G fan. For the rest, here's a glimpse of the same!
Good looks, good looks and good looks
K3G gave us irrational goals about choosing a partner for Prom (Thankfully, Prom night was never a thing in our schools). Kareena has just three words to describe who she wants as her prom date. Of course, Hrithik scores here. Fortunately, we have grown up and realised looks should be least of our concern when choosing a partner for any date.
Kareena's outfit in Bole Chudiyaan
We are pretty sure like us you too must have gone looking for that outfit that Kareena wore. That asymmetrical choli and flared pants... WOW!
Chandni Chowk
How many of you even knew about this place before K3G happened? Now our every Delhi trip has this amazing place on the list.
Maa-Beta reunion
We have grown up on siblings meeting after years with a big reunion track. But till date, nothing beats the scene when Jaya Bachchan puts a hand on Shah Rukh's shoulder and they see each other after many years. We are choking by just writing about it.
Hrithik Roshan's car
Hrithik's car in the scene when he meets Kareena for the first time is P.H.A.T (Pretty, hot and tempting!)
NRIs love India more than us
It's a classic case of you value something only when it's away from you. We had renewed respect and love for our NRI brethren after watching this film.
DJ- Daijaan
We so wanted to have Daijaan in our lives who would feed us laddoo sneakily and never let us learn how to tie our shoelaces.
Aaa aa aaaaaaa - the haunting background score....
The BGM in K3G evoked more emotions than the actors involved in the scene. Sample this...
The diya going POOF!
Now we know why that became a staple in every Ekta Kapoor drama... the bad omen!
And last but not the least... the songs!
We have danced on 'You are my Sonia till our legs hurt and still heart Suraj hua madham.
Thus, we would like to thank Karan Johar for this and more!
