It is finally happening! After months of speculations that Warner Bros and DC Films have been in the talks to make the movie, a new report suggests that The Batman will go on floors later this year. Yes! We re finally getting a new Batman movie. This will be the first movie in the DC Extended Universe. The last solo Batman movie which released was The Dark Knight rises, which was directed by Christopher Nolan and starred Christian Bale as the Batman. Following that, a new Batman was seen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.
However, there were reports doing the rounds that we will soon have a solo Batman movie. Though there have been delays, as per a report in The Hollywood Reporter, the production house is eying to start filming in November. It has been previously revealed that Matt Reeves, who has helmed projects like War for the Planet of the Apes, will be directing the movie. Reports suggested that the filmmaker was eying a filming schedule starting May 2019. But given the recent development, the production house has other plans.
The question remains: Will Ben Affleck continue as the Cape Crusader or is Reeves eying a new Batman? The THR report doesn t mention anything about Affleck or a new Batman. There are several reports over the past year suggesting that a new Batman is on a lookout. Names like Jake Gyllenhaal, Jack Huston and Kit Harington have made the headlines as possible replacements for Affleck. It is to see if Affleck would tone up to play the Batman or will Reeves rope in a new face.
As for The Batman release date, if things go as per schedule suggested in the report, fans will have their next Batman movie in 2021. As of now, DC Films and WB are riding high on the success of Aquaman. Following which, the production house has two big movies lined up this year Shazam! and Wonder Woman 84.
