It is confirmed! Vidya Balan will be a part of the Tamil remake of Pink, which has Thala Ajith in the lead. This was told by producer Boney Kapoor to the tabloid, Mid-Day. The filming of the project begun from December 14 and it is titled 'Thala 59' as of now. Filmmaker H Vinoth who is directing the flick has made some alterations to suit the tastes of the Tamil audience. Popular Malayalam actress Nazriya Nazim is playing the role essayed by Taapsee Pannu in the original and Kalyani Priyadarshan is also part of the project. Pink was one of the most acclaimed projects of 2017 winning awards all over.
This will be Vidya Balan's first project in Tamil Nadu. It looks like the actress is all set to win over hearts of the South Indian audience after making everyone sit up with her acting prowess in Bollywood. She is playing the part of Basavatarakam in the NTR biopic, which releases this month. It seems she received offers for Tamil films before but has given her nod for this one. I wouldn't call it a special appearance. There are certain changes that the director [H Vinoth] that has incorporated to suit the Tamil market, and Vidya's character has been accordingly written, Boney Kapoor told Mid-Day.
It seems it was Ajith who told Sridevi that Pink should have a remake in Tamil. They had worked together in the Tamil version of English Vinglish where Sridevi had apparently expressed a desire to produce a Tamil project. Ajith suggested remaking Pink in Tamil to her [Sridevi], and she immediately agreed, Boney had told the media before. Stay tuned to BL for more updates!
