Since the time the trailer of Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy has been dropped, everyone is going gaga over it. People are loving Ranveer's avatar who plays rapper Divine in the movie. On the other hand, Alia Bhatt caught everyone's attention with her small yet significant appearance in the trailer. The celebrities are hailing the movie, along with the masses. However, if certain reports are to be believed, Ranbir Kapoor was also supposed to star in the film. Shocked?! Even we are. Reportedly two and a half years ago, when Zoya was finalising her cast for the musical drama, Mr Kapoor showed his keen interest in the project, without knowing that the director had already casted Singh for the lead character.
Thinking what happened next? Well, apparently to Kapoor's surprise, Zoya offered him a secondary character who is a supporting one to Singh's character in the plot. Kapoor immediately declined to play the character. Clearly, Zoya was in no mood to replace Singh.
Do you think this could be anyway a dig taken by Zoya due to her past experience with Kapoor? Well, for those who might not know, Kapoor was offered to play Ranveer's character in Dil Dhadkane Do and Ranbir had refused it back then. And he also declined a part in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. So probably this is just a cycle? What do you think?
Interestingly, Ranbir's current girlfriend Alia Bhatt plays the female lead in the movie.
Furthermore, during the trailer launch of the movie, Ranveer shouted out loud that if someone else would have bagged this character, then he would have not been the happiest. "Ye movie meri hai aur kisi aur ko milti toh main jal ke raakh ho jaata," he said.
Well, let's see if Ranbir and Ranveer could be seen together in a movie some day.
