All we want to say to Ranveer Singh, after watching the Gully Boy trailer is - Tera time aagaya! The actor who is still basking in the Simmba glow and its roaring run at the box office is all game for audiences to see him in a new avatar in this Zoya Akhtar directorial which also features Alia Bhatt in lead role. Like the names we mentioned are not enough, the trailer packed a powerful punch with thumping beats and resounding rap in Ranveer's baritone and we are floored. In fact, the launch event was a hoot too thanks to its stars who not only dropped cues about their characters but also left us impressed with their sartorial choices.
While Alia looked chic in her Jonathan Simkhai buttoned dress with separate sleeves, Ranveer stole the thunder with his funk and colourful #OOTD. To begin with, there was a purple shirt upon funky pants which he teamed up with a bright yellow jacket and orange hairband. He also pulled off green sunnies and it's safe to say that no colour from the spectrum was left out. Not to mention his cool red kicks that fit the bill for his rapper avatar. Check it out here.
Electric, isn't it? However, there's something else that we noticed along with his eccentricity. Don't know if you'd agree but the Gully boy's look reminded us a little of real-life rapper Drake's look from his hit track Hotline Bling where he is wearing a similar jacket, only red. See if you see the same?
Yep, as it turns outs, memes weren't the only thing Drake inspired. While we are happy if Ranveer has decided to channel the rap energy Drake's way, we won't complain if it's a happy co-incidence instead!
