Hardik Pandya made the entire internet cringe and retch when he appeared on Karan Johar's show. If you have been MIA the cricketer who apologised this morning for "Getting carried away" passed rather misogynistic and racist remarks while wearing his "I'm a womanizer" attitude like a badge. His comments, upon being quizzed about his dating life were not only distasteful but problematic considering how impressionable and young cricket fans look up to him for inspiration. So much so that, BCCI is looking closely into the matter and is likely to take action against him and his misdemeanour.
But apparently, respect and regard is not the only thing he has lost out on. Recent buzz is that the all-rounder has been dropped from the board of a big endorsement deal after his foot-in-the-mouth moments on the chat show where he was joined by teammate KL Rahul. An insider revealed that a fitness brand was keen on collaborating with him but it has all turned awry in the aftermath of the shit-storm that nobody saw coming. While that is that, we wonder what spin will his team put in place to repair the damage done. Only time will tell.
Earlier, Hindustan Times quoted a senior BCCI official saying, "This attempt at an apology does in no way bring the issue to closure. This merely shows how lightly he takes the gravely serious issue of respecting women. His conduct was unacceptable. He needs to understand the impact the utterances of an international cricketer has in this country but more importantly, he needs to learn how to differentiate between the right and the wrong. Right now, he seems to merely respond to the outrage and not to his own thought process and conduct." Stay tuned to BL for more updates and scoops!
