Veteran Bollywood actor and writer, Kader Khan passed away on 31st December due to prolonged illness. His son, Sarfaraz confirmed the news to PTI.
He told the news agency:
My dad has left us. He passed away on December 31 at 6 pm as per Canadian time due to prolonged illness. He slipped into coma in the afternoon. He was in the hospital for 16-17 week. The last rites will be performed here in Canada only. We have our entire family here and we live here so we are doing it.
Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter to offer his condolences:

Kader Khan, who was 81 years old, had developed breathing issues a couple of days back and was shifted to a BiPap ventilator instead of the normal one. He was born in Kabul and acted in more than 300 feature films and wrote dialogues for over 250 movies.
The Bollywood industry is not going to be the same without you, Kader Khan sahab. Rest in peace.
