Last time when Kartik Aaryan and Student of the Year 2 actress Ananya Panday were spotted together on a dinner date, several tongues were set wagging. Things were getting stirred up between the two, or so was the perception of the onlookers till Kartik came out clear about the episode. "People say all sorts of things if we have lunch or dinner together. It was just one dinner. I find it strange to read such things about myself," he had said at Agenda Aaj Tak.
But turns out it was not just a casual dinner. There was more to it if a DNA report is to be believed. According to the daily, Kartik and Ananya are set to share screen space in the remake of Sanjeev Kumar's Pati Patni Aur Woh. "Ananya has been signed on for the Pati Patni Aur Woh remake, which is being produced by Juno Chopra. She will essay the role that was portrayed by Ranjeeta Kaur in the original. The idea is to make it a modern version of the classic with a young cast. The makers wanted someone cute as well as glamorous for the part and she fit the bill. When the script was narrated to her, she was in splits and gave bulk dates, almost immediately," a source was quoted saying. The banner also plans to get a top actress on board for the wife s role, which was essayed by Vidya Sinha in the 1978 film.
Kartik will reprise the role of Sanjeev Kumar and as per the source, he was the top contender for the male lead. Kartik and Ananya have done a few readings together, the report further states. So it all falls in place now. The film will go on floors next month and it is interesting how Ananya Panday too, like Sara Ali Khan, has bagged her second film before the release of her first.
