Anuraja Kamaraj's directorial, Kanaa, starring Sathyaraj, Aishwarya Rajesh, Sivakarthikeyan and Darshan has hit the silver screens today. The Tamil sports drama revolves around the story of a woman hailing from a middle-class family, who aims to play cricket at the international level and her father who helps her achieve that. The verdict of this sports drama is out. And critics have approved of first time director Anuraja's film. While some critics have been left slightly unimpressed with Kanna, the rest have said that the film is engaging. So, if you are planning to book the tickets for this film, take a look at what the critics have to say:
"Even if you are not a fan of cricket, you will enjoy Kanaa as it has all the typical elements of a good sports drama in place," said S Subhakeerthana of Indian Express.
On the other hand, Kartik Kumar from Cinestaan has said, "Kanaa achieves a lot more than most of the sports-based films at least those that have come out of Tamil filmdom but it could ve been so much more with such a promising core which gets overshadowed by a very melodramatic representation of farmers and their struggles.'
"Kanaa is a step up in that direction and despite its flaws, it makes for an engaging watch, provided one ignores the highly melodramatic farming angle," says Firstpost's reviewer, Haricharan Pudipeddi.
Shambhavi from The Indian Wire, said, "The terrific cast and supporting cast, did not fail to impress and the screenplay and dialogues are just cherries on the cake."
All in all, critics are of the opinion that Kanaa is an engaging sports drama.
