In 2018 TV was ruled by shape-shifting snakes, witches, poisonous damsels and many other creatures who were invented only this year. Is there any argument? Last few years, we have seen the meteoric rise of supernatural genre. Every GEC has one supernatural drama going on, while there are a few networks that have many shows running on the same genre. While many shows have gone off air there are a few shows that are still running and are doing good. Here, let's take a look at the list...
The numero uno show started the trend of supernatural genres in recent times. Since the third season arrived, it has been doing great in terms of ratings. Barring one week it has always been on the top. Right from vultures, mongooses to witches - Naagin 3 has seen all. Surbhi Jyoti and Anita Hassnandani feature as Naagins.
Star Plus' show Nazar has been one show that has been doing well on the rating charts. It narrates the story of a Daayan who returns for her son. The storyline is as convoluted as it can get. There was even a dance face off between a daayan and a chudail, that should explain it all. Monalisa features as the daayan.
Qayamat Ki Raat
After being a part of Naagin 3's first episode, Karishma Tanna did the Star Plus show. It started as a supernatural drama with elements of horror. There was also a psycho tantrik who returns as a spirit. Don't ask what is the plot, as even we are waiting for the Qayamat Ki Raat.
Zee TV's show Manmohini started on a good note. Although a supernatural daily, the treatment of the show is slightly different. There is a daayan who has been waiting for her lover to reincarnate. Reyhna Pandit plays the titular character.
Vish Ya Amrit: Sitara
After Daayans and Naagin, we were in a dire need of a new supernatural character. And Colors got us a poisonous damsel, which is a vishkanya. Vish Ya Amrit: Sitara features Adaa Khan who was earlier a Naagin. Clearly, the girl has some obsession with the genre.
