Although Sunny Leone was not all over the place in 2018, her biopic Karenjit Kaur: The Untold Story has made her the most Googled celebrity of the year. Leone has even beaten the top stars of Bollywood, right from Salman Khan to the leading ladies Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. What is more shocking is the fact that this year Deepika and Priyanka tied the knot, which should have made them rule the internet, however it seems fans are still not over Sunny. According to Live Mint, Sunny, who didn't have any film release this year has been the most Googled celebrity of 2018, followed by Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma.
Salman Khan, on the other hand, is leading the top list in the actors' bandwagon. He is followed by Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar.
Another interesting trend to be mentioned is the spike in the search related to Bhojpuri cinema. The regional industry has beaten Bollywood to be the most searched entertainment industry. "In 2014, Indians were googling Bhojpuri films as much as they were searching for Tamil and Telugu films. Since then, search interest in Bhojpuri cinema has seen a sharp spike," the reports state.
Viral sensation Priya Prakash Varrier, who rose to fame courtesy her wink, was at the top of Google s year-end list of top trending personalities. Bigg Boss 11's Sapna Choudhary also featured in the list.
