Bollywood recently saw an uproar as women from the industry came out to speak against their wrongdoers. Tanushree Dutta‘s sexual harassment allegations against Nana Patekar is deemed to be the starting point of the #MeTooIndia movement. After Tanushree, many other actresses from the industry came forward to name the perpetrators who had sexually harassed them. One amongst the accused was the director, Sajid Khan. Simran Suri, Rachel White, Saloni Chopra, Priyanka Basu were some of the strong women who called him out for his actions.
The director was asked to step down from Housefull 4 in the light of these allegations pending further investigation. On 31st October, he was presented before the Internal Complaints Committee. As per reports in Times Of India, it was, in fact, on the ICC’s recommendation that IFTDA decided to suspend Sajid Khan for a year, at the end of which his license would be reviewed again. Leading news portal, ANI, shared the judgement on Twitter.
