Marvel fans were in for a shock when Chris Evans announced that he has filmed the last shot as Captain America. He will be the Marvel superhero for one last time in Avengers: Endgame, a glimpse of it was seen in the recently released trailer last week. Ever since Chris informed the world that he s hanging up the shield, we ve been hunting for the next Captain America. Yes, we know that the next Captain America could only happen if he survives the events of Avengers 4 but we re keeping our fingers crossed that maaaaybe he would just pass the torch to someone else. Who will take over is the question today.
Recently, WWE star John Cena stepped up and said that he would be interested in playing the next Captain America. The wrestling star, who has been seen in Hollywood movies already, told Ellen DeGeneres that if he was offered, he would play the role. While we cannot think of anyone replacing Chris, we could give John a chance because he at least has the body for it.
Over the past decade, we ve seen Chris building his body especially for the movie. For Cena, he s already a beefed-up champ anyway. So, picturing him in that costume shouldn t be hard. This could also be a great chance for Cena to prove his acting skills as well.
Our second choice is Sebastian Stan. Now many would argue that he s already Bucky aka The Winter Soldier but if you see the comics, Bucky goes on to fill Captain America s shoes at some point. Given that Sebastian still has done only four movies from his nine-movie contract with Marvel Studios, he is probably going to return in Avengers: Endgame. If we include that, he still has four movies left so he could fill in for Steve Rogers.
Back in May, after the release of Avengers: Infinity War, the actor said he would be interested in playing Captain America, only that his version would be darker than the one Chris has portrayed all this while. "I mean, look, it would have to be a very different, quote, Captain America," he told in an interview back in summer. We wouldn t mind a different version of the Captain, tbh!

Well, jokes apart, Ryan is a brilliant actor and he s proved it several times. Be it his Oscar-nominated performance in La La Land or First Man where he played Neil Armstrong, he s impressed the critics already. And the actor is yet to make his Marvel cinematic universe debut so why not take on Captain America s role to cross that off his list.
