2018 has been the year when the power of TV stars was established. Right from Kapil Sharma ruling the headlines to Surbhi Chandna being an international trend on social media, this year has to be the year of TV actors. The actress was crowned as the headline queen of the year. The year started with Hina coming out of the Bigg Boss 11 house as the first runner-up. By mid-year, news portals were going crazy reporting about Hina Khan being approached to play the iconic character of Komolika in the reboot version of Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2. She broke the internet when a promo of her character was released. By the end of the year, Khan also signed her debut Bollywood flick, Lines. On the controversy front, Khan stayed low key except that one allegation over jewelry theft.
Papon
Singer Papon was in the middle of massive controversy. In a viral video, which was a Facebook Live, the singer was seen kissing a young girl, who was his protegee and contestant on a singing reality show. The internet lost its cool over it. Several celebrities started slamming Papon. The singer also stepped down as the judge from the singing reality show. In a statement, he said, "I have decided to step down as a judge on the show till the matter in which I have been falsely implicated is fully resolved and the investigation is over."
The comedian has been in the news the entire year. His controversial fight with his fellow comedian, Sunil Grover, made headlines. Assaulting Grover changed his image in the media completely. Post that, his show shut down and he went undercover. Then another blow to the actor came when his abusive phone conversation with a journalist was leaked. And the last stroke was when his redemption show, Family Time With Kapil was pulled off air within a week, due to Sharma's erratic non-professional behaviour. However, as they say by the end things do sort out. The actor got back on track by the end of the year. He got married to his longtime girlfriend Ginni Chatarth and his show is also set to return.
Neha Kakkar
Neha Kakkar has been another actress who broke the internet. At the beginning of the year, she was trolled for being over-emotional while judging a singing reality show. Memes were made on Kakkar for her tendency to cry. Meanwhile, reports of her dating actor Himansh Kohli were also doing the rounds. The two also came out in public on a singing reality show. However, even before the show could wrap up, the two broke up. Their relationship fizzled out due to unknown reasons. Post that Neha even broke down on the show and started writing on Instagram, sharing her state of mind.
Drashti Dhami
Drashti Dhami is another celebrity who was in the news. After a brief hiatus, she made her comeback with Colors' show, Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka. However, her character of the other woman was slammed majorly. This was the first time that Drashti had received flak for a character. And soon, in a shocking move, the actress made an exit from the show, which left her fans perplexed.
The other notable celebrities who kept the news cycle buzzing were Siddharth Sagar, Surbhi Chandna, Krushna Abhishek and Saloni Chopra.
