As we come closer to the end of 2018, we thought of appreciating all the good that happened and acknowledging all the losses. While life’s ups and downs aren’t restricted to a particular year, there are incidents that happened in 2018 which left us shocked. So today, we’ll be remembering some of the legends we lost this year as a tribute and talk about their vital contribution to the world.
1. Sridevi
13th August 1963 – 24th February 2018

An actress, producer and a sweet soul, the world was shocked by her sudden demise. Sridevi worked in multi-lingual industries and gave us some major hits like Chandni, MOM, English Vinglish, Mr. India, and many more. Fans, family, and friends from all over the world wept tears of sorrow for days after her untimely death.
2. George H. W. Bush
12th June 1924 – 30th November 2018
An American politician who served as the 41st President of the United States of America, George H. W. Bush had the zeal in him since the young age of just 18 when he first postponed his university studies to enlist in the Navy after the attack on Pearl Harbor. His achievements have been extraordinary.
3. Stan Lee
28th December 1922 – 12th November 2018
The father of the Marvel universe, Stan Lee was a man of gold and will be forever. He was a comic book writer, editor, and publisher who entertained the world for a good long period—a period that will always be a part of us.
4. Anthony Bourdain
25th June 1956 – 8th June 2018
Known as one of the most influential chefs in the world, Anthony Bourdain was an author, host, TV personality, celebrity chef and a travel documentarian. His sad death sent shock waves across the world!
5. Stephen Hawking
8th January 1942 – 14th March 2018
Words fall short when it comes to describing this man! A cosmologist, theoretical physicist, author and a unique individual with a sharp mind, Stephen Hawking’s achievements sounded like ones from the future. Even though he suffered from ALS, that did not stop him from making the world take huge leaps in the field of science!
6. Kate Spade
24th December 1962 – 5th June 2018
The founder and former co-owner of the internationally loved brand Kate Spade New York, Kate Spade found success in everything she did because she had a sense and eye for what the market is looking for. Her brand became the symbol of New York during the 1990s and even after her untimely passing, her brand will continue her legacy for years to come.
7. Aretha Franklin
25th March 1942 – 16th August 2018
An actress, singer, songwriter, pianist, and civil rights activist, Aretha Franklin was a lady who will always be remembered for not one but many things and deeds. She started off at an early age as a child gospel singer and excelled in everything she did throughout her career time. Also known as the ‘Queen of Soul’, she gave the world hits like Respect, I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me), Freeway Of Love, I Say A Little Prayer and many more.
8. Verne Troyer
1st January 1969 – 21st April 2018
An actor, stunt performer, and comedian, Verne Troyer gained popularity and a fan following for his outstanding work and performances. Despite being one of the shortest men in the world being 2 feet 8 inches tall, Verne became a favourite from the industry for his roles. He was widely loved and appreciated especially for his role as Mini-Me in the Austin Powers film series.
9. Rita Bhaduri
4th November 1955 – 17th July 2018
Lovingly known as Baa as a reference to some of her most prominent roles, Rita Bhaduri was one of the most loved actresses in the Bollywood and television industry. Many of the characters she portrayed onscreen will forever be in our memories.
10. Atal Bihari Vajpayee
25th December 1924 – 16th August 2018
As difficult as it can get for a politician to be liked by all kinds of people, it was nothing to worry about for Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji. A man of true wisdom and enlightenment, his death crushed the hearts of the whole of India! He served as the Prime Minister of India for three terms of different periods, so we know how much the nation believed in him, rightly.
The contribution that these legends made to the world will always hold a very special and honorable place in all of our hearts. We pray for their peace and remember all that they’ve done, the lives they’ve touched and the lives they have turned around. Thank you for everything, you will always be remembered!
