December 21 witnessed a huge clash at the box office with multiple releases in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil across India. Tamil audience had ample options to pick their film for the weekend watch which included films like Adanga Maru, Maari 2, Kanaa, Seethakaathi and KGF, all of them being big-ticket films. And among them, Jayam Ravi-starrer Adanga Maru is ruling the box office in Chennai despite releasing with multiple biggies. Directed by Karthik Thangavel, the film has Jayam Ravi playing a cop, yet again, while Raashi Khanna is seen romancing him.

With Adanga Maru at the top position in Chennai this week at the box office, the second position has been bagged by the sports drama Kanaa starring Aishwarya Rajesh which is the first production of actor Sivakarthikeyan. At the third spot is Bollywood biggie Simmba starring Ranveer Singh which has been having a terrific run at the box office across India. Dhanush-starrer massy entertainer Maari 2 stands fourth and continues to have a golden run as well. Rajinikanth-starrer 2.0 refuses to give up in the race and stands at the fifth position despite releasing almost a month back.
The closing of 2018 seems to be on a happy note with most of the films released in December having a great run at the box office. With the year coming to an end, Kollywood filmmakers will be a happy unit with many hits under their belts despite a few lows.
