Director Shankar's 2.0 has enjoyed a phenomenal extended opening week by earning Rs 139.75 crore. Since the sci-fi venture has retained the maximum amount of screens, we are expecting 2.0 to continue its dominance at the ticket windows. In fact, by tomorrow it will surpass the business of Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan's Thugs of Hindostan (Rs 152 crore) to become the fifth highest grosser of the year after Sanju, Padmaavat, Race 3 and Baaghi 2.
The film has crossed the Rs 500 crore mark at the worldwide box office and became the third film to achieve this feat after Ranbir Kapoor's Sanju and Ranveer Singh's Padmaavat. The makers of the film, Lyca Productions recently announced that 2.0 will be released in 47000 plus 3D screens making it biggest foreign release in the Chinese market. Talking about 2.0, the film features Rajinikanth in three different avatars and also stars Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson, Adil Hussain and Sudhanshu Pandey in key roles. Akshay Kumar, making his southern debut, plays the antagonist. The film has been made on a budget of Rs 600 crore. Rajinikanth plays a scientist and a robot. He also appears as a microbot, dubbed 3.0, which was one of the major surprise elements.
