A string of much anticipated movies are lined up for release on the coming Republic Day weekend. Three of the four films that will hit the theatres on January 25 are biopics. Except for Emraan Hashmi‘s Cheat India, Kangana Ranaut‘s Manikarnika, Hrithik Roshan‘s Super 30 and Nawazuddin Siddiqui‘s Thackeray are all based on real-life personalities.

While we are looking forward to watching all these films, Thackeray understandably seems to be the most controversial one. It’s already caught in a web of controversies – right from the dialogues being censored before the trailer launch to objections against his hate speech on South Indians.

With such hiccups surrounding the film prior to its release, we can’t help but wonder what Nawaz has to say about it. He has obviously poured his blood and sweat in playing one of the most potent and influential man of the country, a role best suited for an actor of his caliber only.

Talking about the difficulties of playing the character of Bal Thackeray, he told DNA:

I couldn’t ever imagine the difficulty this role would offer and I started growing nervous with time. The director helped me ease into the role while we were shooting. Balasaheb’s personality is so imposing that one can only try to live up to it. It has been a tremendous opportunity for me as an actor and I am ever thankful to Sanjay Raut.

We hope the hard work pays off, Nawazuddin. You never disappoint us!
