Sonu Nigam makes his Instagram debut with a tribute to Mohammad Rafi

Singer Sonu Nigam on Friday made his Instagram debut with a memory of the late legendary singer Mohammed Rafi.

His official Instagram handle is 'sonunigamofficial'.

"Intended to start the Instagram journey on December 24, 94th birth anniversary of the greatest Mohammed Rafi Sahab. Starting the year with his memory," Sonu posted along with a photograph in which he has juxtaposed his own image with that of Rafi.

Sonu's Instagram entry has been made at the behest of his fans, whom he refers to as his extended family.

"Instagram is a new and an exciting platform for me as described by my extended family and well-wishers. I have been getting requests and messages from all over the world to come on Instagram and I think it is long overdue," he said in a statement.

"I hope and wish I can post regularly and people get a closer view of my life. I am going to try my best to keep up with the pace, although I am not the kind of person who shares his life and personal moments on social media. I am looking forward to this new adventure," added the singer of hit tracks like "Kal ho na ho", "Abhi Mujhe Mein Kahin" and "Panchi Nadiya Pawan Ke".

Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2, 4 January 2019 written update of full episode: War between Komolika and Prerna begins

As Komolika humiliates Prerna a lot, Prerna listens to her calmly initially. Prerna smartly answers her saying that rich people doesn t have the understanding and bonding to understand the pain with such issues. On the other side, Shivani apologizes to Veena for her behaviour. But Veena consoles her. Veena asks for a promise from Shivani saying that she will always share all her pains and sorrows with her. She feeds Shivani with her favourite food. She shares that seeing her bleeding was her biggest pain in life. She understands Shivani s situation as a friend but also asks her to think about her family members before taking any wrong step.

Downstairs Komolika keeps on threatening Prerna for not sparing her as she has trapped her brother in the case. She humiliates Prerna and the girls from middle class saying that they play sympathy cards when guys reject her as Shivani did. She also takes it lightly even though she knows that Shivani is pregnant because of Ronit. Both of them shout on each other. Veena listens to the voice of Komilika. She asks Shivani to take rest and goes to see what is happening downstairs with Komolika and Prerna. Komolika keeps on defending her brother Ronit whereas Prerna defends Shivani. Komolika assures Prerna that she will make Shivani s life as hell. While they are fighting, all the members of Sharma family come there. Komolika starts rubbishing about Shivani in front of Rajesh, Veena and all of them. Veena interferes making Komolika understand that whatever her brother behaved with her sister is wrong. But Komolika insults Veena also calling her the master mind of all that. She blames Veena for raising her daughters wrongly as she feels that Shivani trapped Ronit for money. Prerna scolds her for disrespecting her mother. Rajesh also asks Komolika to control her words. But Komolika still blames Shivani. She goes upstairs to meet Shivani. While Shekhar tries to stop her, Suman holds his hand asking him not to go there but Shekhar frees up his hand from her. Veena feels very bad. She starts crying. Prerna consoles her. She asks Veena to be strong. Later Prerna goes upstairs to handle Shivani. Komolika enters Shivani s room. She start humiliating her. She says that she will not spare for trapping her brother. She insults Shivani on her looks. Shivani gets scared of her. She asks Shivani to pray to God as she will make her life hell for troubling her brother. By that time Prerna comes there. Shivani hugs her. Prerna asks her to leave before they insult her. Komolika leaves from there saying that she will see them both in the court. Shivani is very much scared but Prerna asks her not to be scared as she will protect her. Prerna goes from there saying that she will not spare Komolika.

On the other side, Anurag clears to Mishka that there is nothing between them so Nibedita misunderstood them. Mishka gets upset. Anurag goes to see whether Nibedita got the papers she was looking for. Mishka says that Anurag has changed as earlier she didn t listen to him when he used to care for her. But Anurag says that she is not the problem for his changed behaviour. He avoids telling her that he has started thinking about Prerna so he gives some fake reasosn of studies and work.Mishka doubts that he didn t tell her the real reason of him being changed.

While Komolika comes downstairs after meeting Shivani, Rajesh advices her to use proper words while talking to others so that she will also get respect in return. But Komolika insults him by asking him to keep the advice for his children. She again humiliates Veena by saying that she would like to learn from Veena about how to trap innocent guys for money. While she leaves, Prerna stops her. She challenges Komolika to penalize her brother. She also assures Komolika that no one can harm her family until she is there to protect them. Komolika is overconfident. So she says to the entire Sharma family that their bad time has started as Prerna has challenged her. Later Komolika leaves from there making everyone in tensed.

Shalmali Kholgade: A musician has to send visual cues to their listeners to have character to their music

Singer Shalmali Kholgade, who wore shimmering hot pants with a crop top in the latest song "Khullam Khulla", featuring Diplo and Vishal Dadlani, says it's important to complement the music visually.

The indie pop diva exudes confidence in the outfit which also gives a retro feel.

"It's not so much a need to ace the fashion game as it is to complement the music visually," Shalmali told IANS of her choice to look for the song's video.

"I really think a musician has to send visual cues to their listeners in order to have the character to the music they are representing. To me, a music video must speak the vibe of the song -- that is to say, it should highlight what the lyrics and production of the composition are saying," she added.

So whether it is for "Khullam Khulla" or for any other of her songs, Shalmali says she only thinks about how the music makes her feel and she goes with that like the look.

"If the song demanded overalls, I would give it that. But I guess to bring out the beach party look for this song, I went with embellished shorts and a cropped spaghetti with messy hair and a bandana," she said.

The singer is known for tracks like "Pareshaan" and "Balam Pichkari" in Bollywood.

Cheat India won't be a Republic Day release; to hit theatres on January 18!

We told you how the makers of Cheat India and Thackeray were coming together for a big announcement. We also told you that it was about confirming a different release date for Cheat India than January 25 as Thackeray is releasing on that day. Well, now we have confirmed reports that Emraan Hashmi's film on India's education system will now release on January 18.

Sanjay Raut, who produced Thackeray, had told Mumbai Mirror earlier, "I can't stop other filmmakers from releasing their films on the same weekend, but no matter how many films come up against us, the country is waiting for Thackeray. Nawazuddin Siddiqui has played him extremely well and while people are aware that Balasaheb was a politician, cartoonist and an orator, we are showcasing his rise from a common man to a superman which makes for interesting viewing. We were the first to announce the release and I m not going to shift the date come what may." As for Tanuj Garg, the co-producer of Cheat India, he said, "Our title and theme organically lend themselves to the Republic Day weekend." Guess they have now realised it's only good to keep two films on different dates.

Clashes are never good. But now we want to know as to what will happen to Manikarnika.

Jessie J announces she is ‘taking a solid break’ from social media - view post

Singer Jessie J has announced a break from social media to deal with "heavy personal stuff", following the shock death of her longtime security guard.

The "Price Tag" hitmaker, 30, took to Instagram on Thursday to share a message announcing her hiatus, days after posting a tribute following the sudden passing of her team member Dave, reported dailymail.co.uk.

She wrote: "Starting my new year with some unexpected heavy personal stuff has only made me want to be more present in my life.

"Spending more real-time with people I love and some time with myself. When sadness hits, it's important we embrace it, so it doesn't define us. And it's for sure surfaced some emotions and things I needed to work on with all my attention and love.

"I have to practice on myself what I talk about in stage and in my music too. In a good way. So I am taking a solid break from all social media for a while. Not forever but awhile. For now, anything posted will be work related by my team.

"Want to live in the moment as much as I can and not through my phone."

She ended her message with: 'I love you all. Happy new year. The year of living the best life for you. See you soon."

So I really just deleted it. I tried my best to journal it if I want to recall it and go, Oh yeah, that was a crazy time. And I'm excited when the movie comes out to finally be able to talk about it and go, Yes, this was crazy. But my family doesn't know. Damn, our hopes of possible slips go down the drain with that. But hey, we wouldn t mind some spoilers from Captain Marvel too. The Marvel movie will set the base of the female superhero movie. Javed Akhtar to pay tribute to ‘iconic mother of Bollywood’ Nirupa Roy on her birthday - read deets

On the 87th birth anniversary of the late legendary actress, Nirupa Roy on Friday, veteran lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar said she is the most iconic on-screen mother that Bollywood has seen.

In the forthcoming episode of Zee Bollywood's "Classic Legends Season 5", Akhtar paid tribute to the actress and said: "Be it Leela Chitnis, Durga Khote, Achala Sachdev, there are many actresses in the industry who started their career as the young heroines and later specialized in mother's roles.

"But it was Nirupa Roy who captured million hearts with her on-screen roles of the mother. She is an iconic mother of Bollywood."

From playing mythological characters to becoming an on-screen mother to various artists, Roy featured in over 200 movies and won many awards and accolades for her remarkable performances.

Though she first played the role of a mother in Dev Anand-starrer "Munimji", some of her most memorable portrayals were those with Amitabh Bachchan as her on-screen son.

She played his mother in several films like "Deewar", "Amar Akbar Anthony" and "Khoon Pasina".

While praising the late actress, Akhtar added: "When she portrayed the character of Goddess on screen, she looked like a mother and when she used to become a mother in films, she always turned out looking like a Goddess."

After entertaining the audience for over five decades, Roy died in 2004.

Our weekend has begun on a great note all thanks to Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. The two talented stars, who have had a great 2018, were seen in the teaser of Gully Boy released today. Ranveer was seen rapping like a pro and Alia looked breathtaking in the Asli Hip-Hop video. Following the release of the teaser, fans and celebrities from the industry have been raving about the same. From Karan Johar to Deepika Padukone, everyone applauded the two stars. But Arjun Kapoor went a step ahead in praising the team of Gully Boy.

The Namaste England actor shared the Gully Boy teaser and praised Zoya Akhtar and Ranveer Singh. He said, Asli talent ki vulcano #ZoyaAkhtar with apna dil ka raja @RanveerOfficial. But it was his impression of Alia in the movie s teaser that caught our attention.

Kevin Hart promises Ellen DeGeneres to evaluate his decision to not host Oscars 2019

Comedian Kevin Hart says he is "evaluating" his decision to step down as host of the 91st Academy Awards.

In an interview to Ellen DeGeneres on "Ellen", Hart opened the door to returning to the role, reported variety.com.

Hart stepped down from the role following controversy over homophobic tweets that he made several years ago and which resurfaced in recent weeks.

DeGeneres, for her part, revealed that she called the Academy to ask its leaders to reconsider having Hart host the Oscars.

"Leaving here I promise you I'm evaluating this conversation," Hart told DeGeneres.

"This is a conversation I needed to have, I'm glad I had it here. I'm glad it's as authentic and real as I could've hoped it would be," he added.

DeGeneres, who has previously hosted the Oscars and is married to actress Portia de Rossi, offered strong support for Hart.

"What we're going to get to see on stage with you hosting the Oscars is sophistication, class, hilarity and you grow as a person," she said.

"Because most people would say, I'm walking away ' For you to be the bigger man, for you to say I understand... and to not pay attention. There are so many haters out there. Whatever is going on in the Internet, don't pay attention to them. That's a small group of people being very, very loud.

"We are a huge group of people who love you and want to see you host the Oscars."

It was on December 6 that Hart revealed that he was stepping down just 48 hours after it was announced that he would host the upcoming 91st Academy Awards.

The decision followed an outpouring of social-media criticism of Hart's selection as a host that highlighted previous anti-gay comments that Hart had made on Twitter and in his stand-up comedy act.

Hart initially refused to apologize for the resurfaced remarks, before later apologizing to the LGBTQ community and announcing that he would not host the show.

The Oscars ceremony will be held on February 24.

Ranveer Singh's Simmba BEATS Aamir Khan's Thugs Of Hindostan in just 8 days!

Simmba is roaring at the box office. Every year, trade expects a box office treat which helps the year to end on a blockbuster note. But after Zero's debacle, trade was a bit cautious to pin too many hopes on Ranveer Singh's film but the latter has given them many reasons to smile. After taking a brilliant start on December 28, the collections only swelled; so much so that it has already hit the Rs 150 crore mark in just 7 days. Today, it crossed the lifetime collection of Thugs Of Hindostan, the big Diwali release of last year that sank without a trace. It's really amusing how Simmba, a small release compared to Thugs, managed to leave it behind in just eight days. That doesn't happen often.

Given the fact that TOH was a YRF release, it got mammoth screen space at the box office. Also, it was a Diwali film which means increased fanfare. This Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif ensemble scored 5000 screens when it released but apart from the highest opening day numbers, it had nothing to write home about. Simmba had all of 4020 screens to itself in India and you can see the result. It took Ranveer's film just eight days to make more money than Aamir Khan's film. And that says it all. Will Poulter goes off twitter after backlash over his looks in new Black Mirror episode Bandersnatch

Actor Will Poulter has taken a "step back" from Twitter to reassess his relationship with social media after he faced abuse from online trolls over his looks in a show.

He faced the wrath over his looks in new "Black Mirror" episode "Bandersnatch", for which he sports ahead of spiky bleach-blond hair instead of his usual sandy brown locks. It led some trolls to call him "ugly."

Poulter tweeted that the Twitter break was "in the interest of my mental health", reported variety.com.

The British actor, who turns 26 later this month, said he made the decision "in light of my recent experiences".

Child artist Gauransh Sharma to play Govinda-inspired role in Jiji Maa

Child artiste Gauransh Sharma will play the role of Govind aka Laddu in "Jiji Maa". His look will be inspired by actor Govinda's style across Bollywood films.

"I love Laddu's look and character and I am very excited to play the role. Laddu is a very colorful character and I love my look in the show," Gauransh said in a statement.

Actor Dishank Arora, who plays Suyash in the show, said: "We all were so hopeful for the show to not go off the air and here we are with the second innings of the show."

"With a leap of seven years, the audience will witness a lot of new drama and changes in characterizations. Even we are looking forward to it and extremely excited about the leap," he added.

Actor Randheer Rai is also one of the new entries. He will play the negative lead role in the show.

Exclusive: “Divya And I Are Going To Last”, Says Reality Show Star Varun Sood

Varun Sood is a popular name on India television. He rose to fame after participating in hit reality shows like Roadies X2 and Splitsvilla 9. Since then, he has managed to create a loyal fan base for himself and it’s evident on social media. He was recently seen on the reality show, Ace of Space along with Divya Agarwal. In a recent telephonic interview, Varun spoke to us about being on the show, making his and Divya’s relationship official and much more.

Below is the excerpt from the interview:

Now that Ace of Space has come to an end what do you have to say about the entire experience?

I think it’s been a great year. A year of learning and this show has literally taught me so much. I am glad this year has been probably the best year I could expect.

You’ve seen many ups and downs in 2018. So as you begin the new year, which is the one thing you’d want to take forward and one thing you’d want to leave behind?

Yes, I’ve seen many highs and lows in the past year. I want to take forward all the love I have gained in 2018 and leave behind all the hatred I was giving to people or probably received from them. 

During reality shows, you are constantly in front of the camera, how do you separate your real emotions and your reactions on the show? Or is it the same? 

So being in front of the camera 24/7 is a tough job so I cracked a code for this. Just be yourself and don’t keep any filter. Because the moment you keep a filter and not be yourself, people will know who you are and they will know if you are faking it or not. We can’t really fake for 10 weeks at a stretch. So that was pretty much me in the show throughout. That’s what the purpose of the show was, that’s why I was there. Just so people can see the real side of me and love me or hate me accordingly.

Does your family have a take on you doing reality shows?

They love it. They have been hooked on to Bigg Boss for the longest time but this year was different. They were hooked onto Ace of Space and they were like, it is a lot more entertaining. There were times where they told me you were good here, you were bad here. So they are also like really happy with the show.

Do their inputs help you stay grounded?

All of them. My family, everybody. They all keep me very grounded.

You know talking about the show, there were a lot link up rumours about you and Divya. Now that the show has come to an end, will we be hearing anything officially?

I and Divya are together officially. Whatever I said on the show was genuine and it will 100% continue outside.

Relationships that start on reality shows are known to fizzle out or end soon after. Do you think you and Divya will be able to change that?

It’s wrong to think that relationships on reality shows don’t really last. But we are the first couple to change that. We didn’t meet on the show, we met before. We became best friends outside the show. On the show it was a realization for both of us that we love each other and I know for a fact that Divya and I are going to last. We are not going to be like the other couples.

So, what do you have planned on the work front for the next year?

So, I am going to do a couple of web shows for Alt Balaji. I will be again be coming back with MTV, going to do a few shows with them.

Any plans on doing any movies in the coming year?

If I get offered it will be great. My plan is to do the 2 web shows I have been offered. Then the two shows with MTV.

Have you given a thought to being on Bigg Boss?

No, no, no. After doing a show like Ace of Space, which is a lot tougher than Big Boss, I don’t think I should do reality for a while.

Lastly, what is going to be your first resolution for 2019?

My first resolution will be that I will be keeping work as my first priority. Last year, because of some people in my life, I kept work aside. This year will be different, this year will be all about work and spending time with my loved ones.

Even though Varun didn’t win Ace Of Space, his fans are already excited about things looking up for him personally and professionally too.

Rapper-turned-actress Awkwafina, who had a successful year with "Oceans 8" and "Crazy Rich Asians", is in talks to join the "Jumanji" sequel.

Variety reported that Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan are all expected to return for the project, with Jake Kasdan coming back as director.

"Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" was a smash hit, raking in $962 million worldwide.

It followed a group of four teens transported into the world of Jumanji, where they turn into their adult avatars. The setting is now a video game instead of a board game - what the book and original 1995 film, starring Robin Williams, were focused on.

Let s hear a round of applause for Letitia Wright now! The actress who won our hearts with her portrayal of Shuri in Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, has been crowned the highest-earning box office actor of 2018 by Fandango. And it s not just because of her portrayal in the Marvel movies. Letitia was also seen in movies outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She was seen in Warner Bros Ready Player One and Lionsgate's The Commuter last year, which gave her a higher stand than her Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War co-stars at the US box office.

Movies featuring Letitia have collected a collaborative US box office collection of $1.55 billion, according to the international ticketing website. Black Panther had earned about $700 million at the domestic box office whereas Avengers: Infinity War earned up to $678.8 million which were the highest grossing movies of 2018. Ready Player One registered $137.6 million and The Commuter $36.3 million.

While Letitia turned queen of box office in 2018, several Avengers stars found a spot below the Black Panther actress. The second spot was taken by Chadwick Boseman, Winston Duke, Danai Gurira, Florence Kasumba, and Sebastian Stan with $1.38 billion. Samuel Jackson took over the third spot with $1.29 billion whereas Chris Pratt ruled the fourth spot with $1.1 billion. The top five list rounded off with Josh Brolin who had $1 billion under his name.

Especially when you live in a place like Mumbai, the obsession with winters is real. So, if you hate wasting the winter season treating your stuffy, runny nose, these are some quick home remedies that will help you fight the cold.

1. Salt Water

Heat up a cup of water and add a pinch of salt. Gargle 8-10 times with this salty warm water and you’ll have instant relief. This helps in toning down the severity of a sore throat and clear up a stuffy nose.

2. Chicken Soup

Having a bowl of warm chicken soup can make you feel 10x better when you’re down with the cold. It helps the body in healing a lot quicker than any other soup. You can add vegetables of your choice to make it more delicious and healthy.

3. Vitamin C

The couple chose to twin of sorts in the picture. Anushka was seen wearing a crisp white striped shirt with a pair of black pants whereas Kohli wore a multi-coloured stripped shirt to compliment the actress. Virushka welcomed the New Year in Australia since Kohli is Down Under for the test series against the Australian cricket team. She couldn't control her tears. In fact, since she arrived on the set; she wasn't feeling well. Usually, she is very chirpy and bubbly on the set; but things were not the same yesterday. The team had to take several re-takes to capture the perfect moment. Neha was a little confused about her emotions. Finally, she decided to take a break for a few minutes and then resumed shooting." Later, in a series of Instagram stories, Neha wrote, "I know I'm a celeb..I'm not supposed to write all this.. but I'm human being too... and aaj kuch zyaada hi toot gayi, isliye couldn't control my feelings."

Guess Neha is finding it difficult to cope with the heartbreak.

Ryan Gosling-Rachel McAdams-starrer The Notebook to turn into a Broadway musical - read deets

Nicholas Sparks' romantic novel-turned-hit film "The Notebook" is now set to become a Broadway musical.

Producers Kevin McCollum and Kurt Deutsch in association with Sparks are coming up with the musical production, reported variety.com.

Published in 1996, the book was turned into a 2004 film starring Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams, James Garner, and Gena Rowlands.

The story opened with Garner's character reading from his notebook to Rowlands' character, who is suffering from Alzheimer's disease, about the 1940 romance between a poor quarry worker and a 17-year-old heiress, played by Gosling and McAdams.

Bekah Brunstetter and Ingrid Michaelson are developing the musical adaptation.

Sparks said in a statement: "I am thrilled to work with Bekah and Ingrid in order to make 'The Notebook' a reality on Broadway. They are amazingly talented, and obviously, the story is near and dear to my heart."

Anushka then asked her if she had Ranbir’s posters in her room to which she said that she didn’t have posters bt she used to stare at his pictures.

She then revealed, “I met Ranbir first when I was 11. I had auditioned for Black. Since then, I had a crush on him. And then he came in Saawariya, so I had already seen him.”

Simmba CRUSHES Race 3 to become third highest opening week grosser of 2018

Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan starrer Simmba has enjoyed a huge first week at the ticket windows. The masala commercial entertainer raked in Rs 150.81 crore and with this total, it has turned out to be the third -highest opening week grosser of 2018 after Sanju and Padmaavat (another Ranveer Singh starrer). Arshad Warsi who plays a conman in Fraud Saiyyan says it is a very interesting and amazing character in real life

Actor Arshad Warsi, who plays a conman in "Fraud Saiyaan", says it's exciting to play a character like that with a romantic streak.

In the movie, Arshad plays the character of Bhola Prasad Tripathi who tricks a number of women into marrying him for their riches until one day he gets caught and falls into a fix.

This is not the first time that the actor has essayed a conman on-screen.

"I think it is a lot of fun playing a conman. A conman is a very interesting an amazing character in real life, making people believe in something that is not there is an art. In 'Fraud Saiyaan', I am playing a romantic conman, which is a whole new challenge," Arshad said in a statement.

The film also stars Saurabh Shukla and Sara Loren in key roles.

Prakash Jha Productions has presented this Drama King Entertainment production, which is releasing on January 18.

Arbaaz Khan’s Comment On Why Salman Khan Doesn’t Kiss On-screen Is Hilarious

Kapil Sharma is back with his popular TV show The Kapil Sharma Show and the audience has accepted him back with open arms because the first episode that featured Ranveer Singh, Sara Ali Khan, and Rohit Shetty was a laughter riot. The second episode will be aired this coming weekend and we can’t wait because we will get to see celebrity brothers Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan on the show. Even their father Salim Khan will be making an appearance on the show.

But what caught our eye is a little snippet that has been released that’s getting us excited for the weekend episode. Amidst all the fun that they had, Kapil asked Salman if he feels uncomfortable romancing a new heroine.

To which he replied,

Avengers Endgame: Will Captain America make the ultimate sacrifice for Iron Man? A fan theory hints at that!

We love Avengers' fandom. Every day, they come up with new fan theories which at times make so much sense. Ever since Thanos wiped out half of the universe with a snap of his finger in Infinity War, everyone is interested in knowing how our superheroes will fight it out with the worse villain they have ever encountered. The issue is, half of them have perished thanks to Thanos' snap. Post the release of Avengers Endgame's trailer, fan theories have only increased. A new one suggests Captain America will sacrifice himself for Iron Man.

According to the theory, pregnant Pepper Pots, grief-stricken and angry, decides to don the rescue armour and join the fight against Thanos. But the latter will overpower her and the moment he tries to kill her, Steve Rogers will swoop in and save her. He will lay down his life for Iron Man's fianc . The theory further reads, "Tony will fight Thanos one final time. Tony will have the upper hand, filled with rage that Thanos tried to kill Pepper and that Steve sacrificed himself for Tony and his family when he realizes he didn't deserve that sacrifice."

The fan theory even suggests, "So he will fight Thanos to earn that sacrifice, truly embodying what it means to be a hero (for a long time Tony wavers between what is right and what is self-beneficial in his own movies). This is Tony's chance to "become" Captain America. Tony will be the one who says "Avengers, Assemble." And he will use his Iron Man suit and Captain America's shield in combination to defeat Thanos."

Well, all this is making the wait till April really difficult.

Randheer Rai to play a villainous business tycoon in Jiji Maa - read deets

Actor Randheer Rai will play the negative lead role as a business tycoon in the show "Jiji Maa".

"My character's name is Abhishek Sanghvi. He is a young business tycoon and a confident, classy and good-looking guy," Randheer said in a statement.

"The show is taking a leap. I will be introduced as a business competitor to Suyash Rawat (essayed by actor Dishank Arora). I am playing the negative lead," he added.

Randheer has featured in Bollywood movies like "Holiday: A Soldier is Never Off Duty" and "Poster Boys".

"Jiji Maa" is his second show.

Talking about his first show "Karn Sangini", he said: "I signed 'Karn Sangini' thinking that the role was really important. But now I feel that there is nothing much for me to act in it.

"Even the character has become like a cameo. We all know how important Yudhishthira was in the epic story 'Mahabharata'. However, I understand the show is based on Karna's love life."

Quitting the show was a "mutual understanding" between him, the channel and the production house.

"I also understand that tracks are at times changed to increase the TRP of the show. I would love to work with the channel and production house soon," he said.

BARC Report, Week 52, 2018: Indian Idol dethrones Naagin 3; Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai witnesses major drop

The last BARC ratings for the year 2018 are out. And with the end of the year, there is a major shuffling that happened in the positioning of Indian TV shows. Naagin 3 lost its throne to the grand finale of Indian Idol. The singing reality show has been quite a success this year. And finally with the year coming to an end and the season as well, it dethroned Naagin 3 from the numero uno. Then the finale week of Bigg Boss also was lackluster in terms of ratings. Furthermore, in the Urban and Rural combination, Dangal channel came out as a dark horse. Its show Ramayan was in the top 10 list. So, here's a look at the BARC ratings of week 52.

Top 10 shows (Urban)

Indian Idol 10's finale was at the top slot with 8451 million impressions (MI), followed by Naagin 3 with 8148 MI. Kundali Bhagya took the third spot with 7128 and the fourth position was taken by Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (6409 MI). Kumkum Bhagya was at the fifth spot with 6021 MI and Star Bharat's Radha Krishn was at the seventh position with 5984 MI. Tujhse Hai Raabta garnered 5851 MI and saw a rise in its position. Kullfi Kumarr Bajewaala took the eight spot with 5583 MI. Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki got 5501 MI and took the ninth spot. Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega finished at the 10th spot with 5198 MI.

Top 10 shows (Urban + Rural)

With a colossal number of 14093, Zee Anmol's Kumkum Bhagya is at the top slot. Naagin 3 took the second spot with 12271 MI. The Grand Finale of Indian Idol garnered 12176 MI, followed by Kundali Bhagya with 11099 MI. Radha Krishn takes the fifth spot with 10663MI. The sixth position is taken by Tujhse Hai Raabta (10075 MI). The next position is taken by Dangal TV's Ramayan (9570 MI) followed by Kumkum Bhagya (9527 MI). Mahek garnered 9145 MI and took the ninth spot and the tenth position was taken by Anmol's Ek Main Aur Ek Tu with 9103 MI.

Top 10 channels (Urban)

The top 10 channels are STAR Plus, Sony Entertainment Television, Zee TV, Colors, STAR Bharat, SONY SAB, STAR Utsav, Sony Pal, Zee Anmol and &TV.

The finale week of Bigg Boss 12 was nowhere in the Urban+Rural list but managed to make a mark on the Urban List on the 17th position. Meanwhile, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai took the 13th spot and Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 took the 11th position on the same list.

Simmba box office collection day 7: Ranveer Singh's film continues its winning streak; earns Rs 150.81 crore

Simmba's riches are only multiplying by the day. The film opened with good reviews which got further boosted by positive word of mouth. That has helped the film to post incredible numbers at the box office. What also worked in its favour was the two holidays it was bestowed with December 31 and January 1. Simmba's collections only soared because of that. Now, after completing a week at the box office, the Ranveer Singh film has earned a mammoth Rs 150.81 crore. Given the fact that there are no releases this Friday, Ranveer's cop drama has managed to keep the screen count intact. Now it remains to be seen if the film manages to make Rs 200 crore or not. That would be incredible for Ranveer. Although Padmaavat is his biggest hit, the film also had Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor along with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magic touch. So, the credit has been equally shared by all of them. But in Simmba's case, the win is all his and Rohit Shetty's to bask in. That will also prove that Ranveer Singh truly is the future of Bollywood.

Television personality James Argent, who has been a teetotaller for six months, wants to lose weight.

As a New Year resolution, the former "Towie" has promised himself to return the gym but also finds it challenging, reported thesun.co.uk.

"I need to get back in the gym and boxing again. I'm desperate to get back on track. I need to work on my fitness that is my number one New Year's resolution but I find it so difficult.

"I'm not going to put a goal or aim on it because I can't put any pressure on myself. All I want to do is get back into my boxing, set my band up and secure a show on TV," Argent said.
