Well, it's an epic wedding season this year! We all saw the #DeepVeer and #Nickyanka weddings and now its time for the king of comedy, Kapil Sharma's wedding to his long-time sweetheart, Ginni Chatrath. The couple is set to tie the knot on December 12 in Ginni's hometown Jalandhar! The couple will host a couple of receptions, one at Amritsar and another in Mumbai at the end of the month for the Bollywood fraternity. Speaking about the wedding festivities, it began with Akhand Path Bhog at Ginni's residence, which is done to seek blessings for the to-be-weds. Then comes the Chooda or the Kalire ceremony. From the recent posts on a fan account, Ginni had her Chooda ceremony done and she looked the happiest bride ever. The Chooda or the Kalire ceremony is considered very auspicious in the Punjabi weddings.
Traditionally, 21 sets of bangles are selected by the bride's maternal uncle and aunt. After having purified the bangles with milk the bride wears the Chooda and all the relatives touch them as a mark of their blessings! After that, the wrist is covered with a white cloth, as the bride cannot see the Chooda till the time of the wedding ceremonies.
The Chooda forms an important part of Bride's Solah Singaar and is considered to bring good luck for the couple as they are set to embark on a new journey together! Also, red is a very important color for a married woman as it is believed to strengthen the bond between a couple.
In a video posted on Instagram, we can see Ginni dressed in red enjoying the celebration with family and close friends! We can also see the bride to be dancing to the tunes of dhol doing the Giddha with her relatives! They are grooving to the hit Punjabi number, Bari Barsi Khatangayasi. Touchwood and may this happiness lasts lifelong!
