Infamous actor Alok Nath, who was accused of sexual harassment and rape by screenwriter-producer Vinta Nanda, has now been shown by the law that it is not easy to get around it after all. The 62-year-old had applied for an anticipatory bail recently at the Dindoshi Sessions Court in Mumbai to avoid getting arrested in connection with the case. However, the court has rejected his plea as per a Mid Day report. This decision gives the judiciary and the police the right to arrest him whenever required while following lawful procedures.
As per some sources of the publication, a group of senior lawyers had been flown to Mumbai from Delhi to file the anticipatory bail on Nath's behalf. Mid Day had earlier reported that the actor had been allegedly 'out of reach' and could not be traced after a notice was served to him by the Oshiwara Police. The notice never reached the actor and was returned. Alok has also been ousted by CINTAA since he failed to appear before the board even after multiple summons. The board was to hear his side before reaching a conclusion, but his evasiveness led to the Board ousting him from the association.
Nanda spoke out about her harassment at the hands of the actor in the wake of the Me Too movement which commenced in India after Tanushree Dutta called out Nana Patekar for molesting her in 2008. Nanda had narrated the horrific incident in a FB post without naming the person but defined him as the "most sanskari" person. And that was enough for all to guess who the Babuji was. Nath spoke ill off his ex-colleague as well but the producer went on to file an FIR later against the actor.
