While shocked fans wondered why their superstars Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were seen serving food at the Isha Ambani-Anand Piramal wedding reception, some speculated that it could be coming from a certain Gujarati tradition. And let us tell you, those speculations were right. When one Twitter user voiced her question out loud in a post on the social networking site, Abhishek Bachchan himself decided to give an explanation.

It is a tradition called "sajjan ghot". The brides family feeds the grooms family.

Clearly, while fans were left aghast looking at their favourite stars tend to someone else, the actors themselves were quite comfortable and, in fact, proud of the fact that they were considered as family by the Ambanis. They were officially the 'ladkiwale' here and did not hesitate to follow the Gujarati tradition of the bride's family feeding the grooms family as a mark of respect and humility. There are also reports that the most important part of being the master of the kanyadaan ceremony was also given to Big B during which he explained the meaning of the ritual to all those in attendance.
So now we know. And, in fact, we admire how these public figures know that they inspire many and are doing their bit to take forward Indian traditions. Hats off to these stars who give us new reasons to love them.
