Digital is the way forward and there are no two ways about it. Actor Rajeev Khandelwal, who made his digital debut early this year, has an interesting lineup of projects on OTT platforms. The actor will soon be seen romancing TV actress Divyanka Tripathi, in her digital debut Coldd Lassi Aur Chicken Masala. And now BollywoodLife has exclusive information that this is not the only project on the internet, the actor will be working on. A little birdie informs that Khandelwal has been signed for Bodhi Tree Productions' next, an original for the web.
An insider close to the development reveals that the production house is working on an interesting love story which will have a relevant social message as well. For the central character, the 43-year old actor has been roped in. "His character would be a father to a teenage boy," the source reveals. And for the female lead, the makers have roped in digital sensation Aahana Kumra. Kumra, the current muse of the digital audience, has been part of several web-series including the very popular, Inside Edge. Kumra would be paired opposite Rajeev, for the first time. "She will play the step-mother to the teenage boy," the source adds. Apparently, it was Kumra's strong presence on the screens which helped her bag the character of a "modern-age mother".
The series will stream on Voot. The filming for the series will begin by February next year. "The pre-production work of the project has already begun. The actors would sign the contract soon."
We tried contacting Khandelwal, Kumra and the production house, however, we couldn't reach out to anyone to get a quote.
