Veteran actor Mahesh Manjrekar is returning to the direction arena. His last directorial, Me Shivaji Park, recently released earlier this month. And now, the actor-turned-director is ready with his next directorial, which is going to be in Hindi. Albeit a short one, Manjrekar will be directing a digital film. And for the movie, the makers have got on board some big names. The names in the project sounds like a casting coup, with actors hailing from varied background. Rannvijay Singha, who is best known as the face of youth-based reality series, Roadies, is one of the actors to play the primary lead.
A little birdie reveals exclusively to us that the short film will comprise of three characters. While one would be played by Singha, the others are played by popular actors Raima Sen and Vaibhav Tatwawaadi. While Raima has worked in Bollywood as well, she is quite a rage in Bengali cinema. On the other hand, Vaibhav is a popular face in Marathi cinema. Apparently, Singha will play a policeman's character. The film is about relationships and is going to be an interesting tale.
When we contacted Singha, he confirmed the development and said, "I've seen his work as an actor. To be directed by him was the best thing. When he sent me the script I jumped into it without asking any further questions. It was lovely to work with Raima and Vaibhav." Raima, who will be soon seen in the second season of Hello, a Bengali web series, also shared her excitement. "I was quite elated to be directed by him." We couldn't reach Vaibhav and Mahesh for their comments.
The actors have already shot for the movie. Although it is not confirmed, from what we've heard the short film could be a part of an anthology movie (like Bombay Talkies and Lust Stories), which will feature many other renowned directors as well.
Are you excited to see these actors sharing screen space?
