We all know history was made hours after Telugu movie Baahubali had released. The iconic movie which features Prabhas and Rana Daggubati in the lead, directed by SS Rajamouli, went on to create some mind-blowing records and stunned trade analysts. But did you know what happened hours before the movie released? Prabhas appeared on Koffee With Karan and revealed that he promised director Rajamouli he would be by his side at the time of the film s release only to break it hours before the film release.
Recounting the events that unfolded hours before Baahubali s release, Prabhas revealed that he flew to New Delhi. Rajamouli thought, see whatever happens, we should be together because we worked so hard and emotionally we should be together. And I said yes, yes we should all be together, he explained.
But on the day of released, Prabhas told Raj, See, I can t come. I am too tensed. You go, you feel bad, you feel good. I am not coming. I am staying here (Delhi). I am not going anywhere.
He also shared that he s warned his friends, See, only if it s a blockbuster, wake me up. Otherwise don t wake me up.
On the day of Baahubali s release, no one woke him up and this worried Prabhas. He recalls that Telugu audience (for whom the movie was made for initially) did not like it as much as the North and Tamil Nadu crowd. It was quite surprising. We didn t expect from North, Raj added. However the trio shared that they were heartbroken that the Telugu crowd did not like the movie as much.
They feel that the audience might have not liked it because Baahubali wasn t a movie that fitted their expectations. Karan asked the director if he was anxious by the reaction. The filmmaker said that anxious was an understatement. I was terrified, he said.
Prabhas went on to reveal that Rajamouli went to the theatres to see reactions from fans during the morning shows. He went on to reveal that he was astounded by Rajamouli s decision to go to the theatres. I was worried about him, he said hinting that the reactions from fans would disappoint the director.
Rana joined the conversation to reveal that unlike the original plan, where everyone was supposed to be together, the trio were in three different cities.
But as history has it, everything turned out well, we saw Baahubali 2 release and make more money than the first part.
