#BLBestOf2018: Thugs Of Hindostan, Aiyaary - Check out the biggest flops of 2018

2018 has been the year of content. If a film had a compelling story, the audience gave it so much love that it rocked the box office. Case in point being Stree and Badhaai Ho. Both the films were devoid of the usual Bollywood masala formula and yet they did far better than many biggies. What is even more amusing is that a film, which was laced with some of the biggest names in the history of Indian Cinema, was rejected outright. In fact, it has become the biggest flop of 2018. We most definitely are talking about Thugs Of Hindostan. But it isn't the only one film that has made Bollywood bleed this year. Here are a few more...

Thugs Of Hindostan

Budget - Rs 300 crore (approx)

Box office: Rs 151.9 crore

Thugs Of Hindostan was backed by Yash Raj Films and had Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh. It was one of the most expensive films of 2018. But Vijay Krishna Acharya's botched up execution massacred the film. The constant comparison to the Pirates Of Carribean series didn't help its case either. Resultant? It became this year's costliest MISTAKE!

Aiyaary

Budget - Rs 60 crore (approx)

Box office - Rs. 18.22 crore

More than the cast of Aiyaary, it was the director who people had huge faith on. It was helmed by Neeraj Pandey, who had very rarely disappointed anyone since A Wednesday happened. He had a commendable cast in Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee and yet the film tanked. It will be wrong to blame Black Panther, which released alongside it, for the debacle. If it had merit, no force from Wakanda could have managed to stop it.

Namaste England

Budget - Rs 65-75 crore (approx)

Box office - 8 crore

Vipul Shah decided to jump in on the franchise bandwagon by making a sequel to Namastey London with Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra. It had a good buzz around it since these two were reuniting after Ishaqzaade. But it failed to click with the masses.

Bhavesh Joshi

Budget - Rs 25 crore (approx)

Box office - Rs 1.46 crore

Bhavesh Joshi had been in the making for a long time until it released this year. But it failed to get people to the theatres. However, it's release on Netflix did earn the film many accolades.

Welcome To New York

Budget - Rs 35 crore (approx)

Box office - Rs 2.38 crore

We are still wondering why Welcome To New York was made and why Karan Johar, Diljit Dosanjh and Sonakshi Sinha worked in it. We will leave it at that.

How many of these names shocked you?
