Om Raut's directorial, Taanaji- The Unsung Warrior, is one of the most anticipated films of 2019. Based on the life of Subedar Taanaji Malusare, a superintendent in the army of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the film features Ajay Devgn in the lead. While the release date of Taanaji is scheduled to release on November 22, the makers have found a way to keep the audience intrigued till then. Wondering how? Well, the director surprised everyone on the first day of 2019, as he unveiled Ajay Devgn's first look as Taanaji. Sharing the picture on his social media handle, Om tweeted, "Happy New Year!!! Earlier while releasing the first look of the film on his social media handle, Ajay had captioned it, "He fought for his People, his Soil & his King Chhatrapati Shivaji. The unsung warrior of glorious Indian history, Subedar Taanaji Malusare." Apart from Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, who starred with him in Omkara, will be seen playing the opposite force in Taanaji. Saif will be essaying the role of Rajput warrior Udaybhan Rathod. In conversation with Mumbai Mirror, Saif had opened up about his reunion with Ajay after 12 years and the film saying, "I respect Ajay and like the way he looks at life. I m happy to be a part of this huge historical which will be a screen extravaganza, a Baahubali kind of experience in 3D. Kids will love it, so will the rest of the country."
