Zero box office collections day 2: Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma, Katrina Kaif-starrer struggles at ticket windows; earns Rs 18.22 crore on Saturday

Zero is quite a brave film to attempt as subtlety is often not valued at the ticket windows. And seems like that is what is happening at the box office right now. We already told you how the film opened on only a decent note on Friday, December 21 by earning Rs 20.14 crore. This was underwhelming considering that the film had received as many as 4800 screens and no competition from other new releases. Hopes were pinned on the second day of the film and the overall weekend, along with the Christmas holiday. But seems like the film has slipped further a little. On Saturday, the film earned Rs 18.22 crore.

Talking about the same, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, pointing out the slip and tallying the figures to a total of Rs 38.36 crore in two days. Check out his tweet here:

While it is not a bad tally to have, considering it is a Shah Rukh Khan film, hopes are understandably high. What might be affecting the film's prospects at the ticket windows would be the mixed reviews by both the audience and critics. The makers will now be looking at Sunday and Christmas day holidays to give the film the much-needed boost in terms of numbers. A film of this scale does need that push of a holiday audience to sail past the mark. Let's hope Zero manages to score on these two crucial days.

In a two-and-a-half star review, BollywoodLife's Editor-in-Chief, Tushar P Joshi wrote, "Zero has ambition written all across it in big bold letters! Clearly, the film must have seemed impossible to make on paper but with SRK at the helm, that word doesn't exist in his dictionary. Bringing someone like Aanand L Rai to the table gives the film a unique edge and a freshness that he brings to his stories. We have watched Shah Rukh play an obsessive fan but to watch him as a dwarf on the big screen does take a lot of suspension of belief. I don't see any other actor pulling this character off and doing him justice the way Shah Rukh does. Zero has heart and humour. It also has some fine performances by its three superstar actors. Watch it if you are in mood for a different take on love with an intergalactic experience."
