#BLBestOf2018: From Bigg Boss 12 to Shaheer Sheikh-starrer Dastaan-E-Mohabbat Salim Anarkali - five shows that left us disappointed

The year 2018 has seen the emergence of digital media as never before. And at the same time, it was the decline of television too. The content on the idiot box has been degrading since the year began. To be honest, the year has seen some of the worst shows. Some worked on the rating charts and are still working, while some disappeared (thankfully). No wonder, the teenage audience has drifted to the new age media. So with much angst about this shows we thought we would jot down the five shows that were the absolute worst. Here are the shows that need to be erased from our memory and yours...

Belan Wali Bahu

Krystle D'souza was making her comeback after a long time with this daily soap. The Colors' show was heavily promoted, however till date we didn't find any logic in the title, story or anything that we were offered on the screens. The acting was all over the place. The genre, horror-comedy was royally spoilt for us. Thankfully, we had Stree to keep us engaged. No wonder the show was pulled off as soon as possible.

Dastaan-E-Mohabbat Salim Anarkali

This was a magnum opus that we thought will break all the records. The TV remake of Mughal-E-Azam with TV's heartthrob, Shaheer Sheikh, was one of the most exciting projects that Colors offered us. However, it was such a disappointment that we are still in dismay. The execution, writing, was so crass that even a '70s movie seemed quite well-executed in front of it. The ratings are a validation of our sentiments.

Shrimaan Shrimati Phir Se

If you are '90s kid, the idea of Shrimaan Shrimati's new-age remake would have got you all excited. It got us jumping as well. However, as they say, never touch a classic, the makers had to ruin this one for us. The show was at fault on so many levels. Right from the casting to the poorly-written jokes, there was no saving grace for the show. It still hurts to see how badly they have ruined a classic.

Bigg Boss 12

The last season of Bigg Boss 11 was quite a success. It was the talk of the town. The makers were riding high on the success of it. And in overconfidence Colors even pre-poned the show. The contestants on board were also not that bad. Sreesanth, Karanvir Bohra and Dipika Kakar sounded quite exciting on paper. Only they had nothing interesting to offer. This season was so annoying that we actually shut down our TV sets. The boring contestants were least interested to entertain, the show host was least interested in hosting, the makers were least interested to experiment and bring something new to the table and the viewers were least interested to watch it. Its time the show takes a long break!

Tantra and Vish Ya Amrit: Sitara

'A progressive channel airing shows on black magic and a poisonous damsel, promoting the art of black magic in 2018' is the worst suggestion anyone could have given to a GEC like Colors. The channel launched two shows back to back with the regressive theme. Right from the poor casting, over hamming actors to poor execution - both the shows have been the biggest duds of the year. Other regressive supernatural shows that are on air are at least interesting.

Some notable mentions: While the above shows have been really disappointing, there are few others which also deserve a mention. Super Sisters - Chalega Pyar Ka Jaadu, Mariam Khan - Reporting Live, Mayavi Maling, Family Time With Kapil Sharma are the ones that were a complete snooze-fest.
