KGF box office day one: Yash's film gets a record-breaking start at the Indian box office by minting Rs 18.1 crore net; Hindi version rakes in Rs 2.1 cr

Congratulations are in order for Rocking Star Yash who looks set to have a huge hit with KGF. The film is off to a record start at the US box office and now the Indian market figures are also out. It has made Rs 18.1 crore net at the Indian box office on day one. It is a record for a Kannada film. The Hindi version has amassed Rs 2.1 crore. The collection is good if you consider the budget of the film, which is reportedly around Rs 100 crore. Both the audience and critics have given it a thumbs up. In the film, he plays the role of a small boy who comes to Mumbai from Karnataka and becomes the city's most dreaded sharpshooter in the 1960's to 80's. A work assignment sends him back to a closely guarded mining hub in the Kolar Gold Fields called Narachi. He has to eliminate Garuda, a ruthless mining lord who runs the place like a concentration camp.

The film is benchmark one for Sandalwood. Right from the engaging non-linear screenplay to stylishly choreographed stunts and a superb performance from Yash, the film is a winner. Our reviewer Urmimala Banerjee wrote, "Bollywood has made heroes out of many gangsters and this role should be a landmark one for Kannada superstar Yash. Engrossing content, super production values and an interesting premise for chapter two makes this a tantalising gangster flick." The other heroes of the film are Shivakumar and Bhuvan Gowda who have done the art direction and cinematography respectively. Stay tuned to BL for more updates!
