Sorry Christian Bale’s Batman and Henry Cavill’s Superman, Jason Momoa’s Aqauman is the biggest DC superhero internationally

Hes not just the King of Atlanta, but Aquaman is turning out to be king of the box office. The Jason Momoa-Amber Heard starrer is riding high into the New Year and it seems like the waves are far from hitting the shores. The DC movie, which opened a week or two before the American release date, has become the highest grossing DC movie internationally. The last we heard was that The Dark Knight Rises was the highest earning DC movie on the international scale. Wonder Woman couldn t beat it in 2017. But Aquaman s tsunami managed to overpower Batman.

As per a Variety report, Aquaman has earned the title of the highest grossing DC overseas with $649.3 million. The movie out-grossed 2012 s The Dark Knight Rises that achieved the milestone with an international box office collection of $636.8 million. These numbers have been recorded without adjusting the inflation.

On the domestic front, the movie has already surpassed the lifetime earnings of several DC and Marvel movies, including Justice League. According to Forbes, Aquaman currently projects a domestic box office collection of $238.32 million. The box office collection beats Justice League ($229 million), Doctor Strange ($232 million), Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them ($234 million), X-Men: The Last Stand ($234 million) and X-Men: Days of Future Past ($233 million).

The domestic and global box office collection has helped Aquaman earn $887 million worldwide box office collection. The collection has helped the DC to surpass Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice s lifetime collection of $873.63 million, as per Box Office Mojo, to become nab the biggest DC Films grosser of all time title.

Box office analysts predict that Aquaman will cross the $900 million mark worldwide by the end of this weekend, surpassing the lifetime of Spider-Man 3 ($890 million) to becoming the fifth-biggest solo superhero movie ever. The movie will find a place beneath DC s The Dark Knight ($1 billion), The Dark Knight Rises $1.085 billion), Iron Man 3 ($1.215 billion) and Black Panther ($1.346 billion).
