Rajinikanth's Petta is one of the most awaited films of January along with Viswasam, NTR Biopic, Vinaya Vidheya Rama and Manikarnika. Well, the craze for Thalaiva is always phenomenal all over the globe. The film has got a headstart in the US with the pre-sales being around Rs 1.22 crore. Petta is a gangster drama that also stars Simran Bagga, Vijay Sethupathi, Simbu and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. This is the first Tamil film of Nawazuddin. He plays the role of Singaar Singh. The film will release on January 9. People have loved the trailer of the film as they got to see the vintage swag of Rajinikanth in it. Talking about Petta, Rajinikanth told IANS, "Karthik has a very different style of storytelling. He directed this film like a true Rajinikanth fan. Petta is an entertaining throwback to the kind of films I did in 1990's. Karthik has extracted from me the kind of work I used to perform three to four decades ago." Vijay Sethupathi is the main antagonist in the film. He also told IANS, "I wasn't quite sure who would be perfect for the role of Jithu. Karthik suggested Vijay Sethupathi, and I'm glad he agreed to be part of the project. He's no ordinary talent. I've seen his films and he is an extraordinary actor.
