'Salman Khan and I understood her reasons,' says Ali Abbas Zafar on Priyanka Chopra quitting Bharat

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Bharat is all set to enthral the audience this Eid and the wait seems even longer now. The film, which is being directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, has been in the news ever since its inception and seems like the buzz is only growing stronger by the second. The ambitious film will be set across several decades and will show Salman s character in various avatars and needless to say, we are waiting for pictures to surface. While that is that, earlier, Bharat grabbed the eye-balls, when our desi girl Priyanka Chopra walked out of the film just in the 'Nick of the time'.

If you need help to refresh your memory, PC dropped the bomb when she signed out of the film to get married to her pardesi babu Nick Jonas. Ali had even confirmed her exit and had later tweeted, "Yes Priyanka Chopra is no more part of @Bharat_TheFilm & and the reason is very very special, she told us in the Nick of time about her decision and we are very happy for her ... Team Bharat wishes @priyankachopra loads of love & happiness for life." Having said that, there were a lot of rumours that did the rounds about Salman and family being upset with Priyanka. Yes, they all fell flat when Salman's sister Arpita Khan Sharma not only attended her wedding(s) but was also one of her bridesmaids.

And now, in an interview with Filmfare, Ali has opened up about the entire dynamic and said, "Well, well, well there were a lot of things that she was busy with. But I m not gonna say anything more about my nick in time comment on Twitter. We all know the reality and the truth of the situation. As I ve always maintained, we, as team Bharat, are extremely happy for Priyanka and where she s in life right now."

On being quizzed about the reports of a fallout, he said, "Whether it was the producers, Salman or me, as adults we understood her reasons and let her go. There s only happiness between us. We re friends and will always be friends," added the director.
