We watched Zero and are now convinced that Shah Rukh Khan's film should have been called Katrina Meri Jaan as initially planned

'Pehli baar zaleel huye ho public mein?' When Katrina Kaif's character Babita Kumari tells this to a dejected Bauua Singh, played by Shah Rukh Khan, you just don't see Babita taking a dig at Bauua but she also takes a jibe at herself too. Through her mascara-smeared eyes, she lets you in on the depths of her character and you are lost! Last night we got a chance to watch Aanand L Rai's directorial Zero, which released in theatres today. There is no denying that King Khan as Bauua Singh killed it. This is one of his best performances in recent times, and we are not arguing that. However, when I left the theatre, I was awestruck by Katrina Kaif, who plays superstar Babita Kumari aka Babz in the movie. Let me reiterate that Kat is a revelation. To be honest, I have never been a fan of the actress. I've always admired her for her hard work and dancing should, especially in songs like Sheila Ki Jawani and Kamli. I expected the same in this movie as well. With Husn Parcham, she lived up to my expectations too. However, during the course of the movie, I didn't even realise that I was already floored by Kat, not because of how stunning she looked on the screen, but because of her conviction.

Right from her first scene in a bathtub, you won't be able to differentiate between the actor and the character. She had sunk her teeth in the character and breathes life into her. Especially in the scene where Babita pushes Bauua out of her house and the scene after that. You can feel the stardom, the craziness, the forlornness of Babita Kumari.

For those who might not know, a fun fact, the movie was earlier titled, 'Katrina Meri Jaan.' While we don't know the reason behind the title change, after watching the flick I surely wish the initial name was retained. This is what we want from you Katrina.

And even if this performance doesn't shut your detractors, you don't need to worry about them. Continue giving it your best shot, like you have here.
