7 Bollywood On-Screen Looks Of 2018 That Did Justice To The Reel Character

Deepika Padukone in Padmavaat

From the historic film like Padmaavat to the horror-comedy like Stree, we’ve had some mega blockbusters for our entertainment this year. It’s not only the actors that make the characters come to life but what they wear also plays an integral part. With some intriguing characters for us to watch this year, we had a keen eye on their on-screen style too. Here are some of the on-screen looks from Bollywood film in 2018 that we loved:

1. Rani Padmavati from Padmaavat

The designer duo Rimple and Harpreet Narula were the costume designers behind creating Rani Padmavati‘s look for Deepika Padukone. From patchwork design to mixing ornate fabric to create the traditional look, the duo went all out to ace the aesthetics of that era.

2. Sehmaat from Raazi

Keeping true to the ’70s vibe, the costume designers of RaaziBhagyashree Dattatreya Rajurkar and Maxima Basu, went with the desi looks with motifs that were indigenous to northern India.

3. #Veeres from Veere Di Wedding

After a hiatus from costume designing, designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla were back in the scene, all thanks to the film, Veere Di Wedding. With this blockbuster starring not one but four female leads, the designers ensured that all the looks were on point, distinct from one another and in sync with the characters.

4. Parthavi from Dhadak

Manish Malhotra is known for his costume designing. So, when it came to Janhvi Kapoor‘s debut film, there was no doubt that it would be Manish who would be behind the reel life character of Parthavi.

5. Pari from Padman

Costume designer Theia Tekchandaney had an indigenous look planned for Sonam Kapoor that vibed with her character. The use of Indian fabrics and brand Anavila played an important part in this.

6. Mukku from Kedarnath

Another debutant of the year, Sara Ali Khan, relied on the designer duo who is dear to her. Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla depicted the persona of the chulbuli desi girl to perfection.

7. Sanjay Dutt from Sanju

Now, usually we are on the lookout for the glam looks of the female leads, but because of the uncanny resemblance, Sanju had to be on the list. Costume designer, Eka Lakhani surely did a fabulous job with personifying Sanjay Dutt through Ranbir Kapoor. Sanju Baba FTW!
