Shocking! Yash's KGF BEATS Shah Rukh Khan's Zero at the box office

No one would have expected that the rocking combo of Shah Rukh Khan and director Aanand L Rai will deliver such content that will fail to impress the audience. With colossal expectations, Zero arrived at the box office last weekend and received a complete rejection from the movie buffs. The film raked in Rs 59.07 crore in its opening weekend, which is way below expectations considering an SRK film. And now comes one more shocking part at the box office in the form of Yash's Kannada film KGF which clashed with Zero at the ticket windows. The film has performed better than Shah Rukh Khan's film as it raked in Rs 59.70 crore.

The numbers of KGF are more commendable since the period thriller was released in just 2460 screens as against Zero which has 4380 screens under its kitty. So, despite having less than half the number of screens, Yash's KGF emerged victorious, which clearly shows that the audience has chosen content over a superstar. Looking at the current buzz, we are expecting KGF to hold well in the weekdays and the negative word of mouth is sure to affect the business of Zero. KGF has received positive reviews from all over. Apart from Yash's performance, audience is also appreciating the camera work, art and gripping narration of the movie. Our critic, Urmimala Banerjee gave the film three stars and wrote, "Bollywood has made heroes out of many gangsters and this role should be a landmark one for Kannada superstar Yash. Engrossing content, super production values and an interesting premise for chapter two makes this a tantalising gangster flick." So, do you think, the lifetime business of KGF will be more than Zero?
