Right from the trailer and songs, we were sure that Dhanush and Sai Pallavi starrer Maari 2, will open with packed houses at the box office and our prediction was bang on. The comedy gangster flick dominated other releases including Vijay Sethupathi's Seethakathi and Shah Rukh Khan's Zero and grabbed the top spot at the Chennai ticket windows. Since the film has received positive reviews, we are hoping the film to hold well in the weekdays.

On the second spot, we have Jayam Ravi starrer Adanga Maru, which has shown substantial growth over the weekend due to positive word of mouth. Sivakarthikeyan and Aishwarya Rajesh starrer Kanaa is in the third position. The sports drama directed by Arunraja Kamaraj has garnered good reviews among the critics. Vijay Sethupathi's dark comedy Seethakathi is on the fourth spot. The supreme performance of the lead star has amazed the audience and we are expecting the star to win every best actor award. Vishnu Vishal and Regina Cassandra starrer Silukkuvarupatti Singam is on the fifth spot but since the action film has got average reviews, we are expecting the film to witness a dip in the business. Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma's Zero is in the sixth position. Because of SRK's star power, the film opened with good numbers but negative word of mouth will surely affect its business in the weekdays.
