EXCLUSIVE! KGF actor Yash: Baahubali gave us the confidence to think about a bigger release

Yash-starrer KGF is all set to hit the screens on December 21 worldwide and the lead actor is quite confident about the film doing well. KGF is directed by Prashant Neel and features debutante Srinidhi Shetty as the leading lady. The film is set in the 80s and is about a young man taking over the control of Kolar Gold Fields located in Karnataka. The trailers and posters of KGF have been quite impressive and have caught attention of the audience. And ahead of the release, we caught up with lead actor Yash and asked him some questions about the film in a candid chat.

KGF was initially being made only for the Kannada audience but as the shooting progressed, the makers as well as Yash started realising that they should think about taking the film on a bigger platform. Speaking about how KGF got translated into a five-language release, Yash says, "We always knew that KGF will be huge, but we didn t expect it to become so big. Initially, we did not have any plans of releasing it in multiple languages. But as shooting progressed, we realised the scalability of the film. So, we thought we would do it in three languages and not just Kannada. Also, initially, we wanted to do a big film in Kannada and show the world that our industry is capable of doing such films too. As the film started taking shape, we realised how wonderful it was turning out to be. Our producer, Vijay Kiragandur, too believed that KGF has the potential to go places. Director Prashant was focused on Kannada only but our producer was convinced that it can go in multiple languages. I sat down with our team and told them that the film has a universal appeal and will make bigger money if made in multiple languages."

Yash also reveals that it was SS Rajamouli's magnum opus Baahubali that gave them the confidence of thinking about a bigger release for KGF. "Simultaneously, Baahubali was happening across the nation and that gave us a lot of confidence too. We must admit that! Baahubali broke the barrier in terms of North and South. There are a lot of South Indian movies that have done well in Bollywood but this was a whole new level. And KGF being compared to such films, I feel happy about it," Yash added further.

So, if you are a Baahubali fan, seems like this film is going to be your next favourite one. For more updates, stay tuned to BollywoodLife.
