TV actress Deblina Chatterjee, who was last seen in Sasural Simar Ka, is soon going to enter Star Plus' Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. The actress will replace Kanchi Singh, who played Gayu in the longest-running daily soap. Apparently, Singh was not quite keen to get back to the show, as she said to one of the media portals that it is "a closed chapter" for her. The makers got Chatterjee on board recently, to play the character who will turn old as the track proceeds. The 25-year old actress starts shooting for the show today onwards. BollywoodLife, in an exclusive conversation with the actress, tried to find out more about her character arc, her return to the channel and replacing Kanchi. "It's a good show, a good brand, and a good production house. I'm pretty excited about it. The character is also good so let's hope for the best," the actress said.

Talking about her character which is negative, Chatterjee revealed that her character won't be an out-and-out vamp. "It's a grey character and not negative. I wanted to explore new things. So this was something different," she says, adding, "People are very warm on the sets and even Shivangi Joshi and Mohsin Khan are very nice."

Obviously, Deblina replacing Kanchi will eventually call for comparisons, which are bound to happen. Ask her if she has watched Kanchi on the show and she clarified, "For me, it's a new character. It's easy to portray the character. The character has changed a lot (from what Kanchi played). I've not seen her in the show earlier. But what I know its a different character." On the comparison bit, she further said, "Its okay to be compared. There's no problem. The fans will have things to say. So it's fine."

Interestingly, Deblina revealed that her character will only be a cameo. She also informed that her mother was an ardent fan of the soap opera. "My mother used to watch it when Akshara and Naitik where there. It was a happy show with good vibes."

Lastly, the actress concluded that she is happy to be back on the channel, where her first show aired as well. "I'm glad to be back. So it's fun," she sums up.
