With the cumulative business of Rs 425 crore and counting, Ranveer Singh becomes the highest grossing actor of 2018

2018 has turned out to be a landmark year for the gen-next star Ranveer Singh. Apart from taking his relationship with Deepika Padukone one step ahead by tying the knot, the 33-year old actor gave the first and last hit of 2018 with Padmaavat and Simmba, which is indeed an unusual feat achieved by any star. The cumulative business of both his films is Rs 425 crore counting and looking at the buzz of the latest masala commercial entertainer, the actor will enter the Rs 500 crore club at the ticket windows.

Ranveer has beaten Akshay Kumar (Rs 390 crore) and Ranbir Kapoor (Rs 341.22 crore) to become the highest grossing actor of 2018. Talking about his first hit Padmaavat, the actor stole the show with his menacing portrayal of Sultan Alauddin Khilji and we are sure that he will bag every award for his extraordinary portrayal on the silver screen. The period film collected Rs 302 crore during its theatrical run and is currently the highest grossing film of Ranveer Singh. Coming to Simmba, the Rohit Shetty entertainer is turning out to be a huge money-spinner at the box office. In just 5 days it has earned over Rs 124 crore and since there is no release on the coming Friday, it will continue to dominate in the domestic market. Apart from Ranveer, Simmba also stars Sara Ali Khan, Siddharth Jadhav, Sonu Sood and Vaidehi Parshurami in pivotal roles.

Ranveer has also given a special new year treat to his fans by sharing the first look of his upcoming film Gully Boy, which also features Alia Bhatt in a key role. Directed by Zoya Akhtar, the film is set to hit the screens on February 14 during the Valentine's Day weekend.
