Legendary filmmaker Mrinal Sen breathed his last today in Bhawanipore. He died of age-related ailments, according to reports. He was 95. He suffered a heart attack as about 10:30 am today and left for heavenly abode. Known for augmenting a new wave in Indian cinema with Bhuvan Shome, Sen is also known as the greatest ambassadors of Bengali parallel cinema much like Satyajit Ray and Ritwik Ghatak. Indian Express quoted a caretaker saying "A doctor called was in after his health deteriorated. The doctor pronounced him dead. He suffered a cardio respiratory failure. As per his wish, his body will not be kept anywhere. His body will be kept in a mortuary and we will await the return of his son. Further decisions will be taken after Kunal s return." Sen was not keeping well for a while now. His wife too passed away last year. Mrinal Sen is the one who gave Mithun Chakraborty his first film and also his first National Award with Mrigaya.

At the end of the year receiving news like demise of the legend Mrinal Sen saddens and shocks us. Mrinal jethu gave a new perspective to Indian Cinema.Its a huge loss for all of us.May his soul rest in peace.
