Tamil releases this week: Thuppakki Munnai, Johnny and Nungambakkam will lock horns at box office this Friday

The upcoming Friday will be a litmus test for those filmmakers who plan to release their projects at a time when big-ticket films are around. December 14 will witness several films releasing but their chances of sustaining longer than a week seem slim as some big-budget films will be hitting the marquee the next week. Vikram Prabhu and Hansika-starrer Thuppaki Munnai, Nungambakkam, Johnny and many other Tamil films are hitting the screens this week. Here's a look at the films releasing this Friday in Tamil:

Thuppaki Munnai:

Directed by Dinesh Selvaraj, Thuppaki Munnai stars Vikram Prabhu and Hansika in lead roles and is slated to hit the screens on December 14. The release of this film has been delayed for numerous reasons and finally gets a slot to hit the marquee. Thuppaki Munnai is said to be a thriller and is the bigger of all the films lined up for this week.

Johnny:

This heist thriller will be a comeback for veteran actor Prashanth and also stars Sanchita Shetty as the leading lady. Johnny is directed by Vetriselvan and is being produced by Thiagarajan. It is the official Tamil remake of Bollywood film Johnny Gaddar which starred Neil Nitin Mukesh in the lead role.

Nungambakkam:

This film is based on a real-life incident that happened in Chennai. An IT-employee named Swathi was killed at the Nungambakkam railway station in broad day light in 2016. The investigation of this killing has had numerous twists which is now being depicted in this film titled Nungambakkam. As obvious as it may be, this film has caught the attention of Tamil audience who eagerly want to know the details of the killing.

Bayangaramaana Aalu:

Said to be a suspense thriller, Bayanramaana Aalu features Nisha in the lead role and is directed by Arasar Raja. It is one of the small-budget releases this week that is slated to be screened along with other biggies.
