Chennai box office: Rajinikanth's 2.0 continues to dominate new and holdover releases to stay at the top position

It was expected that Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth-starrer 2.0 will continue its dominance in its second weekend and that is exactly what is happening. Despite new Bollywood and Hollywood releases, the sci-fi venture remains the first choice for moviegoers. Looking at the current scenario, we are sure that director Shankar's mega-budget venture will top the charts on its third weekend as well.

On the second position, we have Hollywood release Mortal Engines, which has opened to a good response at the ticket windows. The fantasy fiction film is produced by The Lord of The Rings maker Peter Jackson and the venture was sold on his name. Though it will be interesting to see how it performs in the weekdays. Tamil release Ivanukku Engaiyo Macham Irukku grabbed the third spot in the Chennai market. But since it has received negative reviews, the adult comedy will be out of the list in the next week. Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan-starrer Kedarnath debuted at the fourth spot in the list. Honestly, it's quite impressive as despite not having a big name associated with the film, it has managed to garner a good footfall in the cinema halls. Meanwhile, Jyothika's Kaatrin Mozhi, which is the official remake of Vidya Balan's Tumhari Sulu, has entered its fifth week and is predicted to continue its steady run at least till the release of Maari 2 and KGF.
