The piracy bug continues to affect the Indian film industry resulting in huge losses to the makers. And the latest one to be but by this bug is Tamil film Adanga Maru which features Jayam Ravi and Raashi Khanna in lead roles. Adanga Maru got leaked online on pirate sites in less than a week from release date which has gotten the makers worried. Reports reveal that popular pirate sites like TamilRockers and many others have leaked this movie online despite the makers taking stringent measures to prevent piracy. Tamil filmmakers including the Tamil Film Producers Council and the Anti-Piracy Unit of the Tamil industry have been working hard to control the piracy but in vain. Efforts by President of TFPC Vishal seem to be headed in the right direction till the release date but everything goes haywire after a film gets released. The makers of Adanga Maru are now pulling these websites with the help of the Anti-Piracy Unit of the Tamil Film Producers Council to prevent further leakage. The makers of Adanga Maru are yet to take a legal initiative regarding the leakage, reports reveal.

In 2018, Chennai police, with the leads provided by the Anti-Piracy team led by Vishal, arrested a person who was said to be an admin of one of the pirate sites which leaked multiple Tamil films. Before Adanga Maru, many Tamil films including Vishal's Sandakozhi 2 too got leaked online despite the forces in the industry taking preventive measures.
