Pongal 2019 will be a memorable season for fans of Tamil cinema with two big films lined up for release Petta and Viswasam. It is being speculated that both the films will be released on the same day and it will be a major clash. Viswasam will have a global release in countries like Russia and Ukraine making it a bigger release. However, according to latest reports, Petta too will have a similar release. Reports reveal that Petta will be released in Kannada as well and it will be a dubbed version much to the joy of fans. Rajinikanth, who hails from Karnataka, enjoys a huge fandom in the Kannada state as well and so is expected to draw huge crowds to the cinema halls. Petta will see Rajinikanth in a stylish role again like he did in '90s and will be another element why fans in Karnataka will be quite kicked about the film's release.

Petta is directed by Karthik Subbaraj and is the young filmmaker s first association with superstar Rajinikanth. The teaser and posters released by the makers reveal that Rajinikanth will be seen sporting two different looks - a stylish one as well as a traditional massy one with handlebar moustache. The posters have created quite a buzz around the film already and fans are eagerly waiting to see their demi-god in these stylish looks after a long time. Besides Rajinikanth, Petta also stars Simran, Trisha Krishnan, Vijay Sethupathi, Bobby Simha and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
