Mohanlal s Odiyan released past Friday and the film has been receiving mixed response from audience and critics. While few felt that the film has nothing much to keep the viewers hooked to the screens, many felt that Odiyan is a Mohanlal show all way along. Directed by VA Shrikumar Menon, Odiyan is a period drama and features Mohanlal in an intense role. At the box office, Odiyan has a decent opening on first day and the steady run continued over the weekend despite the mixed reviews. In Kerala, Odiyan has earned a gross collection of approximately Rs 1.25 crore as on Saturday evening. The collections from Sunday are yet to be added to these numbers, reports reveal. Overseas, Odiyan hasn t had a great run since the number of screens it was released in is very low. In Chennai, Odiyan became the first ever Malayalam film to have gross earnings of Rs 18 lakh till Saturday. See all the numbers here:

Odiyan is a story based on the menacing tribal in Palakkad region in Kerala who were known for their black magic practices. Mohanlal is seen playing Manickyan who is said to be the last surviving member of that community. Besides Mohanlal, Odiyan also stars Manju Warrier and Prakash Raj in key roles. Mohanlal is receiving is receiving appreciation from all around for his intense portrayal as Manickyan and steals the show.
