‘I didn’t want to be a part of it,’ explains Kartik Aaryan on declining a Karan Johar-produced film

Rumours were doing the rounds that the young champ who became famous after his mind-blowing monologue in Pyaar Ka Punchnama was going to be the next star of a Karan Johar-produced movie. Who are we talking about? We are referring to Kartik Aaryan in this case. We bet you would remember how headlines were screaming that Karan has found his new hero in Kartik. However, eventually it was announced that the actor and the producer were not collaborating.

Why didn t the plan execute? Reports suggested that he lost the opportunity to work with the filmmaker due to his overenthusiastic team who went about announcing that the producer-actor duo were collaborating when the talks were still in work. However, Kartik says otherwise. Speaking to Neha Dhupia on her podcast, No Filter Neha, the actor said that it was he who declined the role because he couldn t connect with the character.

It was a fabulous film, it s just that at this point of time I didn t want to be a part of it. That s it. Sometimes there are films that are fabulous in their own way, it s just that you have to connect to your character. Maybe somewhere down the line, I didn t connect to it myself, he shared.

There were reports which suggested that the actor was not taken on board because his team sent reports stating that the actor has not only been taken on board, but also that he would be starring opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan in the Dharma Productions movie. However, in reality, the actress was casted opposite Akshay Kumar. Besides this, reports were that the production house was irked by his demand for an unexpectedly high remuneration as well.

Well, here s hoping that Kartik manages to bag a Dharma Productions movie sooner if not later. Stay tuned to BollywoodLife for more scoops on B-Town, movies and gossip.
