Bumblebee movie meta review: Critics term it as one of the best Transformers movies

After five Transformers movies, the franchise stepped out of the series and put together a spin-off featuring the most loved Transformer, Bumblebee. The spin-off tale releases in the US this weekend and will release in India in January. The Travis Knight directorial features Hailee Steinfeld playing Charlie, Dylan O'Brien voicing Bumblebee, Megyn Price as Amber, and WWE star John Cena steps in as Agent Burns. While the trailer has already generated a good buzz for the movie, international film critics have approved of Bumblebee by deeming it as one of the best made Transformers movies till date.

Empire s review of Bumblebee reads, An impassioned ode to both the toys and their era, this, at last, is the Transformers movie we ve been waiting for. A "Transformers" movie in which the plot is coherent, the robots feel like characters (as opposed to gleaming CG creations), and the action is staged and edited clearly enough to follow, Variety review reads. Bumblebee is basically the movie that fans of the 1980s animated series wanted all along.

Screen Rant reviewed the movie and said, Bumblebee is a fun, heartfelt and still action-filled Transformers prequel that ushers in a new - and better - era of movies about the Autobots.

Can a "Transformers" movie be good? It turns out the answer is yes - if the right talent is given enough leeway, writes the New York Times review.

Entertainment Weekly s review says, [Cena] gives good muscle, but Bumblebee brings something even more important - and actually transforming - to the series: a sense of humor, and a heart.

While hard-core fan-boys may complain it's too soft, this film may turn out to be the perfect way to save Transformers, says the Associate Press review.

It's an effective reimagining that also bears a knowing resemblance to classic youth-oriented films from Bumblebee executive producer Steven Spielberg, Hollywood Reporter s review shares.
