The Accidental Prime Minister released alongside Vicky Kaushal's Uri The Surgical Strike yesterday and managed to get a good response at the box office. Despite unfavourable reviews by critics, the film has managed to make people come to the theatres to check it out. That has worked tremendously in its favour as the movie earned Rs 4.50 crore on day 1. Based on a book by Sanjaya Baru of the same name, the film talks about Manmohan Singh's tenure as India's Prime Minister. Anupam Kher plays the lead role in the film and has managed to emulate the mannerisms of our ex-PM pretty well.

According to our predictions, The Accidental Prime Minister was supposed to earn somewhere near Rs 2 crore on day 1 but it did better than that. Guess the people of the nation are interested in knowing what happened in the corridors of power when Manmohan Singh was our Prime Minister. That must have brought people to the theatres. Well, it will be interesting to see how the film fares in the coming days.
