YRF's upcoming big-budget venture Shamshera, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt will go on the floors today as the first schedule of this action-adventure film starts in Mumbai. This casting is especially something that we are looking forward to as, after portraying the role of real-life Sanjay Dutt in his last film, Ranbir will be actually working with the actor for the first time in this venture. Filmmaker Karan Malhotra, who has previously helmed movies like Agneepath and Brothers, is directing this project. The makers are expecting to wrap up the film by 2019 and it is set to hit the screens on July 31, 2020.
Expected to be a desi, high-octane masala film, Shamshera is an edge of the seat adventure and is set in the heartland of India. It will have jaw-dropping action sequences and Ranbir Kapoor in a never-seen-before avatar. On the other hand, Sanjay Dutt will play a ruthless villain in the film. Talking about the film, RK had earlier said, "Shamshera is exactly the film I was looking for. While growing up watching Hindi commercial cinema, I had an image of what a film hero should be doing. Shamshera allows me to do everything that I had imagined and it s a very exciting project for me. Karan is going to take me completely out of my comfort zone and I m looking forward to this challenge." Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor is currently shooting for Brahmastra along with girlfriend Alia Bhatt. The film is directed by Ayan Mukerji and also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy in pivotal roles. It is set to release on August 15, 2019.
